Here is Gus Malzahn's national ranking in generating 10-yard + runs from 2007-2013.

2007: 21st ( 1 every 6.11 attempts)

2008: 5th (5.39)

2009: 22nd (6.47)

2010: 2nd (4.94)

2011: 21st (6.54)

2012: 22nd (6.21)

2013: 4th (4.96)

The national average from 2007-2013 is 1 every 7.43 attempts.

Malzahn's Arkansas run-offense generated a 10-yard run every 5.23 attempts during the 2006 season.

Despite Auburn's focus on the passing game during 2014 A-Day, Auburn's running game (combined) generated 10 run-plays of 10-yard or more from 48 attempts. This gave the run-offense a terrific ratio of 1 every 4.80 attempts without the quarterbacks being live.

The 2014 Auburn offense should once again be one of the top-10 teams in the nation in generating impact plays via the ground game. Corey Grant will be a major component in terms of generating explosive plays in the running game. The above play was set up with two WR-screen passes prior to the Statue of Liberty play. Gus Mazahn schemes to make the opposing defense responsible for defending the entire field from side line to side line. This increases the probability of generating impact plays.

Last season Nick Marshall (40), Corey Grant (23), Cameron Artis-Payne (20) and Ricardo Louis (10) combined for 93 runs of 10-yds or more on 348 attempts. The quartet finished with an amazing ratio of 1 every 3.74 attempts. The addition of Peyton Barber and Rock Thomas should provide additional explosive potential.

Jeremy Johnson had 2 on 7 carries last season.

If Marshall, CAP, Grant, and Louis had 1 ten-yard rush every 3.47 attempts, what was Tre's average to bring the team total down to 1/4.96? Maintaining a 5.7 ypc average with fewer long runs makes his consistency that much more impressive (and speaks well of OL play). It seemed like he was always getting 4-5 yards even when there was nothing there. I also remember seeing he had a very low number of zero/negative yardage plays.

Tre had 47 from 317 carries or 1 every 6.74 attempts.
