CGM in HSV Last Nite...

Last Nite had a wonderful time with Ethan at the http://www.huntsvilleauburnclub.com/ Good food and got to hear Coach Gus Malzahn speak. Ethan got to meet the coach and got him to sign a Nick Fairley jersey he wore to the event. Ethan also saw a Nick Fairley BCS MVP Football on the silent auction table. We signed up, me hoping that someone would out bid us on the $200 football because i had my eyes on other stuff for the family and for Kim. Well, guess what, we won the silent auction and here i go spending $200 on a football...Well i love my son and he got a memory he will never forget.

Notes: CGM was very high on chances. Liked the Spring results very much felt like we were much deeper across the board than last year, Felt good about every position being two deep but LB where he felt we had at least three we could depend on. "Auburn Fast" was THE motto this year.

Liked the signees and expect fast impact. Receivers he was very high on them. He said our best overall rcvr was hurt during LSU (forget the name) and that Coates, while huge impact player was a downfielder, not a come back and bail the qb out kind of rcvr. They had worked in off season with Sammy and becoming a more complete rcvr. Add in two new signees and we were set in his eyes.

Was all grins about recruiting. 15 Commits and Big Cat still to go. (Hope i got that right.)

O: Thinks "Johnson would play or start for 90% of our opponents" so we should be set at QB. Johnson is a more pro style player CGM said. CAP looked great and CG was faster, as advertised. Said the 4.1 clockings were valid in his eyes and were timed by multiple coaches. We had 4 returning starters on OL and should be set there as well. "OL is the heart of any team in the SEC." "Reese Dismukes is the best center in America." Looking for someone to replace prosch still. Said RT played the entire BCS Game with a very dislocated right thumb. Uzomah was looking like the next Prosch.

D: Thinks we are far deeper on D than last year. See LB comment above. Likes the depth of our Star position. 4 Seniors on the DL in a 10 man rotation. Trovon asked to go to Corner to help out there and he was doing very well. Corners are now two deep, S, he is relaxed at now. LB, we are gaining in experience and some in skill and some athleticism.

"May have Toughest Schedule in the country."

Singled out: Arkansas is prepping for us now. KSU is there on a TH Nite. "One of the best coached teams in the nation." USCe here was gonna be tough. UGA and Turds on the road was not an easy thing to do either and he expected UGA to be mad as hell when we play them.

Laughed at HUNH/Safety controversy. Said we will be faster this year "Hope yall like that."

Eats steak omelet at Waffle House after a win. Gets his hash browns: smothered, covered, chunked and whatever. I forgot the next one.

more later...

Thanks for the report DKW. If I ever meet Coach at the Waffle House, my fav breakfast joint, I will just tell the waitress, same here. Scattered, smothered and chunked is the only way to go. WDE!!!

More: CGM Talked about how good Ole Miss had the potential to be. Knew that Ole Miss has the largest number of returning starters in the SEC.

MSU: "one of the best defenses in the SEC."

Thanks. Interesting he indicates Denson was a better overall receiver than Reed or Bray last year. We sure didn't go Jaylon's way often if that was the case and I'm not aware he was exactly being double teamed. Not surprised Fulse and Parks are not exactly the second coming of Prosche yet.

But Denson got hurt early last year didn't he? I think the beginning of the LSU game? I too think that Denson is a better overall receiver and was on his way to prove that until the rain soaked Corndog game!

I wasn't impressed Denson last year (or Bray for that matter). Duke, Sammie, Ricardo (if he'll lay out to get balls this year), Stevens, Davis, Ray...maybe Bray...we're deep.

yes that was it. He applied for a hardship. Has the NCAA made a decision yet?
