racking up a $1.9 billion dollar quarterly loss matching the number put up the same period a year ago. Not long ago some genius in here posted that "at least the postal service doesn't cost the taxpayers any money", presumably he felt, their revenues generated from postage and handling were sufficient to finance their costs.

Wonder how that $1.9 billion loss is going to be made up? That's a lot of 50 cent stamps.

I wish the USPS would go to three days per week delivery. At least, out here in rural America. The fuel costs have to be astronomical.

5 days is enough, no private firm provides residential delivery on Saturday. They may around Christmas. So start by dropping Saturday delivery.

But then cutting delivery days also cuts union jobs. Only the federal government seems unable to do that.

90% + of what I get in the mail box is junk mail anyways, that goes directly into the trash.

I will send it back to the sender if marked where they are known. I will even mail back empty envelopes just to drive up postage costs for those sending out the tons of junk mail.
