On Thursday, White commented on the story on his Facebook page, telling his followers (and the world) to "Stop pretending like you didn't know the crimson tide has been doing this for years. Still glad I turned down a Corvette to become a mountaineer."

I love it.

At Nashville reporter broached White's claims of improper offers in the recruiting process. Alabama spokesman Jeff Purinton stepped in and said Saban was not with the program at the time of White's recruitment.

But Saban responded anyway. "I didn't even know it happened," he said. "So I can't comment on it. ... Is that the best thing we can talk about? ... kiss my ass."

Love it .......saban's was not there........correct you are........because it has ratcheted up since he came on board. At LSU he had good recruiting classes with ZERO in state competition but has consistently turned in better classes at Bama than LSU while competing against Auburn ? Nobody wants to explore that topic or the 85 limit vs who is really on scholly. Miles has recruited better than saban at LSU so is Miles a better cheater or is Miles a better recruiter ? Regardless, top 3 classes in turdtown in saban vs his LSU track record don't add up. I don't think anyone will have the stones to dig for the obvious truth here. I think it is ironic that LK called Nick & Meyer out on recruiting tactics while HC at UT and he is now working for Nicky. Nick went from Capone to Pope in Lane's eyes after hiring him LOL !

I'm at at loss as to why Little Nikki is so defensive ... unless this hits really close to home. If this happend before the Lollipop Guild rolled into T-town, why does Little Nikki care? Second, if this happened at any other university, the standard response would be a promise of a full internal investigation.

And who was that "handler" who interrupted Little Nikki and bullied the reporter? It is like the handler had full knowledgeo of Pat White, when Pat White was recruited, and when Little Nikki was hired. It was a classic "Nothing to see here, move along, move along." moment.

I'm tempted to say that bama didnt do it cause their offense wouldnt have fit White well. Then again, Mike Shula was a dirty and clueless coach, so there might be something there. I'll be surprised if anyone went after bama though.

That sounds like some more of the Bammer "Class." All I've seen is their fans praising and laughing at his response. What's so hard about saying, "I have no comment" or "That was before I was coach" and just leave it at that?

Maybe Bama wasn't recruiting him to be the QB but had another position in mind.

From what I remember both bama and LSU were recruiting him at the time for a defensive back

The main thing I take out of this is saban saying kiss my ass. Why the media loves him I have no clue when he treats them this way.

The media and all the "Bible Belt" bammers that will have no problem with this!

Oh, I don't think anyone is much worried about Pat White or his recruiting days... But the sales of Rolaids to Updykes and Red Elephants must be shooting up. Their fears are threefold:

1) What if Pat White's story opens up details of "recruiting channels" they're still using to this day?

2) Every bit of national press of this kind they get promotes attention from areas of the country where they don't control the media, the power circles, and the politicians, and increases the chances that some young national journalist trying to make a name for him/herself will actually dig deep enough to find the smoking gun(s), and

3) While all that is going on, Gus Malzahn is whipping them on the field, in recruiting, and in positive PR. They will never admit it, but they can all see that the college football pendulum is swinging in this state and they are scared s###less.

How about these as ad slogans for Rolaids?:

1) "Did you just lose to your biggest rival in the most celebrated finish in all college football, and have to sit at home and watch them win the conference championship game?"

2) "Did your team just go into a bowl game as a 14-point favorite and walk out with a 14-point loss?"

3) "Got that upset stomach/acid feeling because your offense forgot to show up for the spring game?"

4) "For that nauseating feeling when your Heisman Runner Up, SuperQB gets embarrassed in the draft."

5) "Heartburn? Did your SuperQB just refer to you as " 'that' university" and imply your coach made him play hurt?"

6) "Need relief because one of your current commits just posted his fancy new car on Facebook while a former recruit says he was offered a Corvette?"

7) "Getting a nagging pain in your belly 'cause your rival just got a commitment from the top JuCo player in the country...for the second straight year!?"

Just because he can. He's the leader of the pack and whether he will talk, answer their questions, or insult them is completely up to him. $7 million dollars a year from UAT and the REC says it's so. If his on field coaching performance or recruiting starts to stumble, the press will go after him like wolves after a wounded alpha wolf. He also does not have the aura that Bryant had around him which kept him around in bad years and toward the end of his coaching career.

His clumsy and failed effort to get a new 10 second wait period rule placed on offenses to help defenses is also a bad sign for him.

Let's see...if we use the Newton rule and extrapolate on gifts, if White turned down a Vette, then West Va. must have offered something even better.....a Hummer perhaps? What was he driving back in those days when anyone would have cared?

Meanwhile, maybe the Mountaineers are the ones to host a visit from the NCAA since the school that actually "offers" an inducement gets off free.
