This is just a question. Not meant to be a criticism of anyone or anything. Its something to think about when kickoff is still several months away. What if Russell Wilson had transferred to Auburn following his time at NC state instead of Wisconsin? Do you think Chizik would still be at Auburn? Like I said just something to pass the time.

I don't think so. The foundation was flawed, and was breaking apart. A QB wouldn't have changed that. JMO.

Hate to say it, but I'm glad for all parties things worked out as they did. At the time, I hated losing out to Wisky when RW chose to go there, but it's clear the team was on the verge of free fall here.

Agree....that season IMO was not just about the QB or Chiz.....lots of bad things happened to the team prior to the start of the season.

Chizik was a great staff man but didn't have it as a CEO. I got to speak with him briefly at his Atlanta book signing and I really feel he is a true Auburn man and had Auburn's best interest at heart. I saw this kind of situation many times in my military career. A very good friend was the executive officer of my squadron and did a great job but when he became CO he made all the wrong decisions and consequently lost the squadron, much like Chizik lost the team. Some are meant to lead and most are made to follow. It's just how life is. As to whether Russell would have made a difference, I don't think so, I think the result would have been the same. JMO.

Honestly, yes! I think everything would have been pushed out a year and he would have been fired after this last season. I think we may still have lost to Georgia, LSU, and Alabama but it would have been much closer. I also think we beat Clemson and Arkansas. Frazier gets red-shirted, Malzahn potentially comes back for another year, and the fans aren't near as restless.

We would have had a better season in 2011, but that is about it. Gus would have still moved on after that season and the 2012 debacle would still have happened.

Had the offense had even a mediocre QB we could have been 7-5 again in 2012. I know I won't be popular for saying this but Gus really had a hand in us not having a QB for 2012. Kiehl Frazier and Zeke Pike were both Gus's QB recruits and neither panned out. Even if Gus had stayed in 2012 we likely wouldn't have been any better than in 2011. I think Gus knew that 2012 wouldn't be much better so that's why he left for less money to be the head coach at Arkansas State, that and Chizik wouldn't let him have full control of the offense.

KF was a highly sought after qb that was thought to be perfect for the offense that Gus runs. He didn't pan out for a number of reasons. Sometimes players just don't make it. I wondered a little about Pike to start with considering his history so yeah that was not a good one. Had Gus not been handcuffed in 2011 Frazier might have turned out differently. The atrocious play from the Offfensive line didn't help matters any with him. It is what it is.

Gus probably would have went and got the best juco or eligible transfer available for 2012 just like in 2010. he had to talk chizik into offering Cam and didnt want to have to go through fighting the "plan" again. thats all water under the bridge. it worked out.

Yep...JMO but Chiz grossly over-estimated the capability of his QBs which may be why he resisted bringing in Cam....and Gus saw the handwriting on the wall...and did what was necessary.....which is why Nick was recruited too.
