Will Auburn have another best play of all time?

Recommended Posts

You think it's possible to succeed the Kick Six?

I mean its very possible, because it almost happened in the FSU game (shoutouts to picking the wrong lane)

I personally don't because Auburn SHOULDN'T have that same defense

Yes, we'll do it this year on another crazy pass (this time a lateral throw back) to beat LSU :wareagle:/>

Or we could save the heart attacks and beat them by 40...

Amen to that!

We've had our fill of the miracle plays. Personally, I miss the days when we could enjoy watching the other team getting whipped six ways to Sunday until about midway through the third, then head on out to the porch to relax and enjoy some stress-free beverages. More of that, please.

Let's be realistic

No. Never in football will there be another play that ends regulation of the last game of the season, between two top 5 teams that happen to be the nation's fiercest rivals, in which a game winning field goal is missed and the ball is subsequently returned the entire length of the field, including all of the end zone. That was the best play in all of American sports, ever.

I do not believe we will see anything like the Kick6 again, or atleast for a long time. We might see an amazing play, but to the significance of the kick6 very unlikely. That play happened against our most fierce rival and it literally was the deciding factor if we advanced to the next stages of the post season, and it defined the 2013 team. We found ways to win.

We all thought that was what was happening in the Georgia game.

I agree! Written like it could be the perfect voice over sound bite for the replay. Well done.

Well, when you put it like that... :)

It *was* happening in the Georgia game, right up until it wasn't.

No joke! It's hard to dream of any scenario where any play, ever, could top that one. It will be remembered as long as football is played; and not just by Auburn people but by virtually everyone. It is already becoming legend. It's been viewed well over 3 million times in its many different incarnations on Youtube alone.

Wow, just thinking about this season and the especially the last third of the season or so, I've never had a more fun or exciting football season.

I'm not sure a coach(weeman) will ever allow his head so far up his a55 to allow that to happen again. That is what made it so enjoyable to me. As much as our players and coaches deserve credit, "the greatest coach of all time" choked. Then naturally blamed everyone else.

Well nobody thought we would ever see anything as crazy as the georgia finish... and then it happened the very next game. I doubt that we will ever witness anything close to those two back to back games. It was already strange to get uga and bama at home back to back, but to have that happen with championship implications on the line was unreal. Our backs were against the wall vs uga, the exciting run we had looked to be over. That moment where the stadium was dead silent as the ball was in the air and absolutely erupted when ricardo caught it was something I will never forget. I hadn't fully recovered from that moment before it was time to get in the student section like at 7 AM for the iron bowl. Then it was time to go in and yell as loud as i could to beat the #1 team and go to the sec championship. And that game lived up to all the expectations and gave us the most exciting finish we will probably ever see. Being in that student section going crazy for those moments will be something I will remember for the rest of my life.

So no I am not expecting any plays like that this year, but hey this is auburn we are talking about, and they have a knack for nerve wracking games so why not?

The thing about the UGA play is that Marshall threw to the wrong guy! Coates had broken wide open across the middle and would have either scored or set us up for a chip shot FG on the last play to win the game had Marshall no locked in on throwing long to Lewis. All he had to do was lob it over the middle and Coates was off to the races. So even though it was a miracle play it was a miracle we didn't need. Nick just needed to throw the ball to the open guy, not the one who was double covered! Remember the Cox to Aromoshudu play a few years back to win the UGA game? That's what it should have looked like.

We will never have another play like the Kick Six with all the implications on the line and one second on the clock. We will probably win more big games on the last play, but nothing will ever beat that when you consider all the things that were on the line, especially denying Bammer the three-peat and the fact that Saban argued for the one second. I was at the game in 1972 and I still think the Kick Six passed that as the epic moment in the history of Auburn Football and one of the greatest in college football history, along side the Flutie Hail Mary and the Run Through The Band. It will be shown on college football shows 50 years from now.

Grab a copy of this video at YouTube before they get a notice to take it down again. In my opinion, this is the best of the best for building up to the ending:

punt bammer punt in '72, pass LSU pass in '94 and the kick6 in '13. those are the 3 big ones in my lifetime. the thuga miracle is something that happens almost every season somewhere, but to my knowledge, it's the first time auburn has ever won on a hail mary on such a huge stage. something else will happen someday, but the kick6, for everything that was on the line and for it to happen on the last play of the game that maybe should never have been the last play, will be tough to beat.

Me'thinks most likely - NEVER

All the rest of these the punt-bama-punt, the Ga miracle, and so on have great fan appeal, and will live on forever in Auburn lore, but the Kick-6 was something for the rest of the nation. You had the blow hard braggards (think bama-miami 92) and all their associate media darlings stinking up (and hogging) the national press with tales of grandeur, present glory, and forecasting a never ending string of championships, so much so that every other football team and fan in the country was on our side that day. And everyone jumped for joy (at least a wee little) when Auburn blindsided and derailed 'that team' who had claimed way too much, of what was not yet theirs. We're often prone to claim the highroad, and project this game a conflict between good versus evil, but on that day all the world got to see their evil foe vanquished.

... and the joy of a nation filled Jordan-Hare.
