AUC can confirm Auburn sophomore DE Carl Lawson, expected to be a key contributor in 2014, had surgery on his left knee Friday. A source close to the family said Lawson is focused on rehab and returning to the field this fall.

The specific injury was not immediately known.

All I could find were articles from before a-day game. That injury was not supposed to be serious though, one of the several articles http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2014/04/auburns_carl_lawsons_status_fo.html

Apparently it was more serious than originally thought, but done for the season with kickoff < 90 days away? That's typically the extended recovery period necessary for healing a ligament or meniscal tear.

Confirmed by Auburn Undercover. Link and partial quote added to Original post. Remember people: These types of threads REQUIRE a link for proof or they don't get posted. If you don't have a link for it, do NOT post it.

I am bummed out! Carl is one of my favorite players, and we need good DE's. I hope it is not terrible and he suits up this year. He is so talented and we need his talent.

Carl, here' s hoping rehab goes great and you are better than ever when it is done.

New link, article new today. Family said he is focused on returning this fall. So hopefully he'll only miss a couple games at most. The first few teams we play are run heavy so that might make missing him easier, though still not ideal.

Was arthroscopic to clean up the meniscus. I think if he rehabs well he will be good to go by week 2-3 of season. Better now than later in the year.

^Nope. Looks like MRI showed more damage. Get well soon, Carl.

I expect to see Daniels at end until Lawson gets back, if the young guys aren't game ready. Wright might rotate some with Whitaker being back but, I don't think we will see too much of Adams at end.
