It didn't take long for Johnathan Calvin to name Auburn his favorite school after he made his first visit to the Plains on Saturday.

In fact, the three-star prospect from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss., almost committed.

"I did," Calvin said after Big Cat Weekend. "I had to hold back because I'm taking a visit to Tennessee next weekend. Everything is great. I already like Auburn anyway, and now even more."

As a man that once had a strong head of hair but now keeps it short and tight out of necessity-not-choice, I recognize a strong head of hair when I see one. That's a good look, Mr. Calvin. Keep up the good work.

Oh and come to Auburn.

It'd knock you down, steal your beer, and ride off with your woman and the dog too.

Looking at his height, size and speed along with statistics for Freshman year I would have expected him to be a 4*. If he wants to commtt and coaches want him I think our coaches may have found another diamond in the rough. While we still haven't signed any D-Linemen in this class yet with the number we signed last year especially some of the long lean ones who will probably Redshirt this year and put on some muscle mass we should be OK along with the ones that we will sign this year by NSD.

I will now repeat the MANTRA all of us recruiting junkies need to learn by heart.

TRUST THE COACHES

Cold!

Isn't Johnathan visiting Tennessee this weekend? hopefully he'll make his commitment to Aubun when he sees he can be apart of a championship team a lot faster at Auburn then Tenn. He already loves the Auburn Family.

I don't think he is a take, YET. That can change, but if I had to guess, he has been asked to let things sort out for us. Meaning he is free to commit to anyone of course, but we would like for him to wait until we know more.

Does anyone know if this kid a take for us? It looks like he is ready to commit or trying to push us to green light him. http://auburn.247sports.com/Bolt/Decision-Wednesday-night-possible-for-DE-Calvin-29213257

I would speculate (SWIDT?) that he is a take at this point. With Carl's injury, I suspect we are ready for someone to come in and provide immediate help at the DE position.

No inside info, just pure speculation (NIIJPS).

He is likely a take.

Per AUC Link

A week ago, defensive end Johnathan Calvin of Copiah-Lincoln C.C. seemed close to announcing a commitment to either Auburn or Mississippi State.

Then, he pulled back saying he needed more time.

The Tigers and Bulldogs remain his favorites, and a decision likely still will come this summer, according to Calvin.

Before picking a school, Calvin, a 3-star prospect and the No. 6 strong-side end in the 247Sports Composite, might visit Auburn again soon — after the dead period ends July 13.

“I may go back to see Auburn after the dead period,” Calvin told 247Sports. “And I’ll probably go back to Mississippi State, too, just to see some of my former teammates. I'm just doing research on coaches, and doing more research on the depth chart. It is kind of tough but I'm making sure I look at everything.”

AUC believes Calvin, who is 6-foot-4, 255 pounds, is a take for the Tigers. He last visited Auburn on May 31.

At this time, the 247Sports Crystal Ball favors Mississippi State.
