Looking at a map the rural areas of Scotland were against splitting up. There did not seem to be any difference between Highland and Lowland rural areas of Scotland in the vote. Urban areas in and around Glasgow were for the split up, However Edinburgh was against it. Scotland splitting up with the UK is mostly a romantic notion, but would have been an economic disaster for the Scots.
