Has Ronnie Brown reached end of NFL career with release by Houston Texans?

The Houston Texans have waived running back Ronnie Brown, perhaps bringing to a close the 32-year-old former Auburn standout's pro career, which started as the second pick of the 2005 NFL Draft.

The Texans released Brown to make room on the active roster for cornerback Jumal Rolle. Rolle had been on the Green Bay Packers' practice squad. Houston backup cornerback A.J. Bouye missed the Texans' game on Sunday with a groin injury.

Brown joined Houston as a free agent on Aug. 12, after training camp had starter, and he earned a place on the active roster. However, he had been used sparingly. Brown did not play in the season-opening game or in Sunday's game. He had three carries for 2 yards in both the second and third games of the season. He also caught a 5-yard pass in Week 3.

...

Because of his veteran status, Brown will receive the remainder of his 2014 salary from the Texans.

9 years in the NFL is a long time for a running back. Time to save his body from all those hits.

Hopefully he's saved his money and has another career to start soon.

He's still several years off from getting his NFL pension.

Ronnie always struck me as someone with a good head on his shoulders. I think he will do well.
