3rdgeneration 5,221
Absolutely hilarious! I am proud for them. I'm glad we didn't tear ours down when we beat Bama, but I am happy they got the chance to celebrate and it meant so much to their fans. Fun times! AU64 10,122
Happy for Ole Miss but people should act like they have "been there before"......but wait.....guess they haven't been there before, at least not in the lifetime of most Ole Miss fans...but good for Ole Miss.....and maybe one day in the future, beating bama will not be such a big deal for them. As for AU fans rushing the field last year....I expect it was in reaction to the way the game was won...and not just beating Bama since we have won at least half the games in the past 20 years. With AU's pedigree and history, I can't see any victory that justifies tearing down the goal posts.
NoALtiger 3,493
Our fans charged the field because we had just won the greatest college football game ever played, not just because we beat Updyke...again. I don't blame the OM fans one bit though, this sort of thing is what college football is all about. Take it in Black Bears, take it in.
smackydoodle 200
AU fans charging the field was a combination of winning the Iron Bowl on a crazy play, going to the SEC Championship, and keeping hopes of the BCS alive. A lot of awesomeness happened on that return. Ole Miss stormed the field because they beat UA. It'll be interesting if they can keep up that level of intensity. And to be honest, most fans assumed Bama was better than us last year. A bit of doubt coming into the game makes for greater elation when you win. I'm not going to do the research but I bet bama has been favored over AU for about every game played in the last 10 or 15 years. Most of our wins have been upsets.....so AU people have gotten used to being under-estimated. ...and yes, it's always nice to beat those guys. cptau 130
http://www.sbnation....issippi-alabama Ole Miss only has to pay $50,000 for that fun. It was high because this was the 3rd time in 3 years and I think because of the goal posts. I think Auburn only paid a $5,000 fine for getting on the field after kick six. http://sports.yahoo....-142916572.html Ole Miss and Kentucky both registered huge wins Saturday afternoon over Alabama and South Carolina, respectively. When the high from those victories wore off, both programs were levied with fines from the SEC because their fans stormed the field in shows of celebration. The conference announced Sunday that Ole Miss will be fined $50,000 while Kentucky’s fine will be $25,000. Ole Miss was fined for similar field stormings in 2012 and 2013, resulting in an increased fine. Kentucky’s last field storming incident was in 2007 – more than three years ago – so the fine was less than the one levied to Ole Miss.
