Obama Executive Order

Get ready for another round of children coming across by spring and summer. I keep hearing about all the extra BP agents and other things this administration has put in place. Problem is these agents are not being put on the border. They are keeping well back of the border and they are not allowed to do their job. Same thing with ICE. He talks of record deportations but fails to mention that anyone that is turned away at the border is counted in those statistics. They knew last January that there was going to be a flood of illegals coming across but they weren't planning on interdicting them or stopping them but rather trying to arrange transports for them once they arrived.

can you think of a better way to import a new electorate? Dude, these folks coming in will be loyal democrats for life! >:D

Admit it Tipper, you're just a hardass who favors ripping apart families and embrace latent racist ambitions. :Sing: Open the border, dude. Lets party!

:bow: You know, you hear this exclamation from the left while at the same time they entice parents to dump their children onto the backs of drug mules to come across the desert into this country. Who's really ripping families apart ?

Amen, the ironies are unbelievable. But you know, promoting lawlessness is a "good thing' when it can be supported by a good touchy feely story..right? Its all about the chiiiildren.

BO's eo has sealed the Dem's fate for 2016....it'll be a repeat of 2010 and 2014 only this time the Republicans will most likely have a super majority. The Dems squirmed like worms on the pavement on a scorching summer day a few weeks ago to avoid association with BO. Can't wait to see what other tricks BO has to surprise his fellow Dems for 2016.

They are counting on a short memory and that is not an unreasonable assumption by them. The republicans have to keep this before the public constantly over the next two years. Obama is arrogant enough to pull more stunts like this over the next two years though so that will not help the democrats cause. He is more concerned with finishing his fundamental transformation than anything else.

One thing is for certain, while I have no idea what Obama will do, Im pretty sure his megalomania wont allow him to sit idly by as a lamest of lame ducks in obscure irrelevance. In fact, IMO, this whole immigration reform charade is purely a political ploy in an attempt to remain relevant after he and his policies were so resoundingly rebuked 2 weeks ago. I wish he would just go work on his handicap and play golf all day everyday for the next 2 years..aint happening.

Let's just become a bigger version of Switzerland. Come on in! We're neutral. Open borders for all. To hell with laws.

We became a great country with open borders.

So you're Swiss-ish ? Is there a chance they'll take you back or did they exile you to Texas ? Btw, where's your green card ?

Because it will involve a wall/fence/barrier. That's a given. Then the monitoring and manpower required to stop attempts to circumvent it.

And how much is the estimate for that wall and its maintenance ?

To hell with it all. Lets just open the borders and invite EVERYONE in..oh wait, we've already done that. To hell with all those honest people who gone about their business of legally trying to immigrate to the US. The message here is, scrap all that, just walk across the border like everyone else...you'll be fine. :hellyeah:/>

EXACTLY ! The cost of a wall, placed strategically, would cost less than $5 billion. I'm rounding WAYYYY up from the estimate which was less than

$2 billion in the Fence Act. $1 billion annually to maintain. The lowest estimates for absorbing these illegals as citizens will be over $100 billion. And speaking of citizenship, Why must they become citizens ? Why must they be given the right to tax our social services ? Those who support this "amnesty" will be paying for it locally.

"A 2009 analysis by the GAO found that the cost of pedestrian fencing ranged between $400,000 and $15 million per mile with an average of $3.9 million a mile. The price of less expensive vehicle fencing ran anywhere from $200,000 to $1.8 million a mile, for an average of $1 million a mile.

That same year, Customs and Border Protection set aside $58 million to build a 3.5 mile stretch of fence along "difficult terrain" in San Diego, according to the GAO, an investigative arm of Congress."

Would we not have to buy some land as well?

It's a federal border and easements would have to be granted where private ownership is concerned. Remuneration would be involved.

What history you talkin' 'bout Willis ? And, when you say you are "all American" why is it that you refer to "we became a great nation" when speaking of Switzerland ? Bit of a contradiction, ya think ?

Just demonstrating the absurdity of your support of this with some more absurdity. The simple fact of the matter is this was done to bring in some 5 million more low skill workers who will be competing for the low wage jobs or getting on government assistance and eventually become democrat voters. It was also a test to see what kind of pushback, if any, he gets. If there is nothing more than speeches and talk, he'll proceed to do even more of this type thing during his last two years in office. There are some 6-7 million more people, at least, just like the ones that are covered under this order. Also this will encourage another wave of illegals, which he knows full well. He's going to go all out on a scorched earth policy. We haven't always had open borders. Yes back in the early days we did. but we eventually set up a system. Most of the illegals here don't care about assimilating into our culture. They make no pretense that they are here to work and that's it. He doesn't have the authority to confer benefits upon these people or to give them green cards but yet that's what he did.

Nooooo, go re-read your grammar books. Having to explain subtle humor, well, loses its flavor.

autigeremt used the first person plural in reference to Switzerland....and you followed suit, which leaves your sentence to vague interpretation so I chose the latter.. Grammar, not history, was the context of my comment. Gee, you had to ruin my joke. :'(

The take away from this is...scope matters. The founders never intended THAT much power accruing to the Executive Branch. Holidays and Parks no big deal but, granting legal status for 5 million illegal aliens, whether temporary or not, far exceeds the enumerated powers of the president.
