Interesting, he didn't see much of the field ...

Braden Smith, whose imposing stature and strength has earned him a variety of He-Man-like nicknames, has won a spot on the coaches All-SEC Freshman Team, the league announced Thursday.

Smith, who won the nicknames the Hulk, Terminator and Drago, among others, for his weight room work, played a backup role for the Tigers in 2014. He played tackle.

Smith checks in at 6-foot-6 at 299 pounds from Olathe, Kansas.

I hope he becomes an option at LT because he looks to be much more athletic than Shon. That would allow the coaches to move Shon to guard and make better use of strength. Shon struggled with lateral movement against good pass rushers.

Is there anybody that can evaluate Braden from his play? I'm not talking about cliches and just going off hype. I don't think I ever notice really when the o line is subbed. I do know nobody has seen enough to say he's better than Shon though....

Regardless of his play time this year, I'm excited to see what he brings to the table the next few years. The guy is a monster, I just hope he doesn't end up being one of those crazy strong guys with no athleticism to go with it.

Congratulations to Braden but he barely played. Voters must have been looking at HS film and listening to hearsay about his practice accolades. We've had Redshirts play more snaps than BS. Nonetheless I'm excited about his potential. Hopefully he'll find the right spot in the 2015 OL which I think could be one of the best ever.

He has the athleticism. No need to worry about that. He can play any position along the line. They even talked about using him some at H-back I think. Nothing ever came of it but he is a heck of an athlete.
