Harbaugh Expected to Take Michigan Job

Cost of football definitely going up in the Big10....newcomers like Maryland and Rutgers definitely stepped into a snake pit. BIG1O will soon have 4 or 5 dominant teams and the rest just hanging on IMO.

Jed York is the dumbest CEO in the NFL.....

Without question...and time will tell if it's stupidity of epic proportions. A painfully crushing blow that burns deep as a 49er fan.

If San Francisco plunges back into another decade or longer of mediocrity, this will rank right up there with Jimmy Johnson being shown the backdoor out of Jerry World.

Mike Shanahan is lurking out there. I think he would like to take over that roster. Whether they can agree on terms or the gm would go that direction I don't know.

I haven't been overly impressed with Shanahan in recent years. He seems to be riding a downward trend as of late. That being said, he's probably the 'safest' hire the organization could make at the moment.

The article also mentions that it 'matches the deal Harbaugh had with the 49ers'

Congrats Wolverines, but something stinks out in the bay area.

Big personality conflicts with the president and general manager. They didn't like the players scrapes with the law but they drafted them. It takes a hard nosed man to keep them in line but yet it seems the management wants a yes man as coach.

Classic case of too many chiefs trying to run the show, instead of doing what's best for business. Baalke (GM) is almost a clone of Harbaugh personality-wise, and Marathe (president) follows his lead. If a yes-man is who they prefer, then they can hit up Wade Phillips or Norv Turner on speed dial. The NFC West went from being a joke to arguably the toughest division in football over the past 3 seasons. Hire the wrong guy now and the 49ers can easily find themselves at the bottom of the division again.

That's what I read......49ers the big losers in this deal and Urban will be looking over his shoulder at UM again. BIG10 should become more interesting in a year or two. Good for the conference to have a "real" rivalry again.
