McLoofus' irrefutable facts just confirmed everything I said. My general point was that as a general rule 5*s perform like 5 *s, which was why I was criticizing Ellitor for his response. Specifically, Ellitor said "Yeah because being a 5* DL recruit means the kid will play like a 5*. Raven Gray says hello." The reason why this comment is wrong and unnecessary is because it is inconsistent with McLoofus' irrefutable fact #1. I have observed that often times Ellitor's comments in this message board are unnecessarily critical and uncalled for, which is why I responded the way I did.

Not true..

There is actually little separation between 5 stars and highly rated 4 stars. Natural talent is something you cannot coach.

A 5 star in High School has to be measured against natural ability, competition, surrounding talent, and coaching.

One perfect example is Sean White. Terrific passer and tore them up in the 7 on 7 and camps. What held him back is the talent of the receivers on his high school team he had to throw to.

Jeremy Johnson was a 4 star and everyone looks for him to be one of the top SEC QBs this year, over some 5 stars Bama has.

It is not all about stars, it is about needs, natural ability, teamwork, and coaching.

Bikerrider....what exactly did I say is untrue. You said "untrue" but failed to state what part of my comment is untrue. I am confused.

So back to Gardner... If he is a FL commit, then do we have a shot just because of the coaches bailing last year and coming here?

We have a shot because he has visited twice and we like him.

Ikeel - to answer your question - per al.com - "

"Gardner's recruitment has been a wild one thus far. Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson managed to flip him from Miami to Florida last summer, but he decommitted from the Gators in January after Muschamp and Robinson were hired at Auburn. Gardner recommitted to Florida in March, but contacts Muschamp and Robinson frequently and hopes to make his first trip to the Plains soon. The speedy track star is ranked as the nation's No. 14 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite. (247Sports)"

Proof Sinor is clueless. Gardner has visited at least 1 time for certain, maybe 2.

That's a stupid comment. There are exceptions to every rule. Yes, there are some 5*s that suck, but on average you are much more likely to get good play out of a 5* than a 3 *. Don't be a moron.

I was not being a moron and please stop the childish name calling crap. I did not attack you so there was no reason to come back like that to me. Reality is the services are not nearly as good at judging talent as most the coaching staffs. They miss on some 5*s every year. My point was you can't take a 5* kid because he is a 5* kid to a service. He has to be a 5* to the staff. Julian Rochester is a perfect example. He's a 5* we were recruiting hard til Boom came on staff. Boom feels he is very overrated and we backed off him.

E, I heard on Sirius (I think) that there was not one 5 star on the field in the Oregon- OSU title game. Do you know if this is true?

Not true via the composite. Von Bell, Curtis Grant, & Adolphus Spence started for tOSU, Arik Armstead & Thomas Tyner for Oregon. Raekwon MacMillan also played for tOSU. 5 5*s started. 6 played.

The context of having to get two or more 5 stars on the D-Line

This conversation debating irrefutable facts will go on forever.

"Highly rated players are more likely to be successful, but some will be unsuccessful. Lower rater players are less likely to be successful, but some will be successful. Coaches are better talent evaluators than recruiting services, but more often than not, they agree."

And for part 2 of the conversation:

"No matter how good the players are, they need a good coach to win championships. No matter how good the coach is, he needs good players to win championships."

Feel free to copy and paste next time. It won't be long.

LOL. You were prophetic that it wouldn't be long. But you left out another irrefutable (or at least sage) fact: you can lead a horse to water, but ....

If you give the horse enough stars will he be bound to drink? :)
