On and On It Goes

Another sad death and more tears of grief by a Mother. Death apparently from drugs so why the protest until an autopsy is done. And why aren't more people putting their energy into taking on drug dealers before they get to kids rather than protests?

14 hours after she was put in jail? Someone was not being diligent here.

These protests are a small version of the protests in Paris. I wish we could harness all the protest energy to help prevent problem rather than react to them.

The coroner did an autopsy and found illegal drugs in her system. No signs of abuse were found. She was checked on around 3:30am and was snoring, then checked on again at 4:00am and was not breathing.

THIS IS A SERIOUS AND HONEST QUESTION.

Kind of a side question but, are black officers being included in this movement,or is this just a white cop hate thing? Do these protesters realize that there are tons of black officers as well? Why is this a "racist" thing? If a black officer shoots a black man, is this considered racism?

I'm sure we'll get some noise about the power structure of the white privilege, and how even if there are some blacks on the force, they're nothing but uncle toms , or worse.

Just a hunch, but I would bet she was dead long before that 3:30 check. Dying of an overdose 14 hours after apprehension is too dang fishy.

I think it's either that or she ingested some drugs in the jail. She either wasn't shaken properly or acquired them in the jail. Neither reflects well on those assigned to watch her.

The facts state that she died of an overdose of illegal drugs. She was said to be breathing and snoring around 3:30am and dead thirty minutes or so later.

I'm not disputing that.

So they say. I have my doubts.

Is this a specious question? :-\

Why? There is no proof that it happened differently.

Because FACTS get in the way of hating all Cops...

The facts surrounding her death do not lend credence to their story.

There ya go, it's the fault of those assigned to watch her.........like they have enough guards to give each prisoner special attention.

Define special attention. They have an obligation to the people under their care. Even criminals have rights, you know.

Snoring can also be attributed to agonal respirations...which represent near death hypoxia. The snoring can also occur when the tongue is obstructing the airway.

The facts state that she died of an overdose of illegal drugs. She was said to be breathing and snoring around 3:30am and dead thirty minutes or so later.

And the snoring should have been a warning sign for someone brought in on drug charges:

Signs of depressant drugoverdose (e.g. heroin, morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, methadone) include:

  • shallow breathing or not breathing at all
  • snoring or gurgling sounds (this can mean that a person’s airway is partly blocked)
  • blue lips or fingertips
  • floppy arms and legs
  • no response to stimulus
  • disorientation
  • unrousable (can’t be woken up) unconsciousness.

In the setting of substance use, snoring is not something that should be seen as ‘normal’. Don’t let people ‘sleep it off’ if they are snoring – this may be a sign of significant and life threatening emergency – attempt to wake them immediately.

Snoring also takes place when sleeping...

Which is a result of a partially obstructed airway.

Not to mention all the red tape, bad publicity - and in this case - political backlash that come with having an inmate die in their cell. :-\

Thanks for the info, EMT.
