Women's BB lost again today badly at home to Arkansas, 54-36. Ugly game.

Who will be our next coach? Flo is not coming back.

If we have anyone in the Athletic Department that knows anything substantive about women's basketball, the first call will go to Jody Adams. She is currently the HC at Wichita State.

She is a native of Cleveland, Tennessee, a former point guard and National Champion under Pat Summit, and spent two years (1994-1996) as an assistant coach to Joe Ciampi at Auburn.

She has taken a mid tier program with no history of winning basketball and transformed it into a contender in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Another great candidate would be Kelli Jolly Harper. She was a finalist during the last search. Below is a great read from Trackemtigers.

There were a number of people (fans) who thought that Jody should have been our first choice to begin with.....they weren't the decision makers...

Went back and checked posts back in the day including some of yours....and could not find a mention of Jody...monday morning QBing? Kelli seemed to be the favorite but don't think I saw anything but positives about Coach Flo. By all accounts she was very good hire....just is not getting the job done.

But if Jody is a viable candidate....let's take a look.

I love seeing a list of good candidates but sure hate to see someone dredging up the past ...or re-writing history.

In warladytiger's defense, he/she didn't say posters on here, but a number of people (fans).

I agree with you, though, about seeing a good list of candidates. I hate it that Flo appears not to have worked out, but there are some candidates I would love to see have a chance to right the ship!

I'm just saying that I looked around and never saw the name anywhere public....but to the point NOW....what coaching characteristic does Flo lack that is causing her to be unsuccessful?

When she coached elsewhwere she seemed to have everything needed to succeed in the SEC including experience in the conference.

So if someone with her creds and experience totally flops in a couple years....what should we be looking for in a new coach? A previous winnng record or SEC experience does not seem to translate or assure anything.

I'm in the same boat you are. Looking from the outside in, I can see no reason why Coach Flo is not succeeding at AU. What to do differently bext time is a mystery to me.

ICYM: Lost to Ole Miss last night. Didn't see it reported anywhere. The ladies fall to 0-13 in SEC play, 9-17 overall, 3 games left until SEC Tourny (GA, Vandy, Bama).

look awful against Ole Miss watched a little of it on tv. They were trying we just don't have the players

Agree....watched about 1/2 + of the game....our team looked like a bunch of junior high players....no apparent game plan and nobody knew how to play defense it seemed....just running up and down the court and always a step or two behind OM's offensive players on their offensive breaks.

RECRUITING. The SEC is also much more competitive than most leagues. Look around the SEC and you will see several coaches that took over programs that were no where near the level talent wise that the Auburn program was when she took over. They are doing well. One of the best examples is Shaefer at Miss State.

Warladytiger is right. In fact, Jodi interviewed last time. As did Kellie J Harper and Katie Meier. Miami quickly stepped up to the plate and ensured that Katie would remain in Coral Gables. In addition to that, Katie Meier and her partner love the Miami area. Had we hired any of the other candidates, the team's style of play would not have changed from what Fortner had been running at Auburn. That change in style of play has to be part of any conversation about what may or may not be working. CTWF did have a quality resume and she was highly recommended by Andy Landers. Add to that other factors that are important in the overall process and its not that her hiring wasn't justified. The players on the team at the time were NOT happy whatsoever with the hire. Several good players transferred and others hoped for the best.

There were a lot of competing voices during the last search. One thing that will always stick out in my mind was Jay Jacobs commenting that we were waiting for Tennessee to finish in the NCAA tournament before we could move forward. That is a telling statement. Everyone knew that Pat Summit was stepping down. Everyone assumed that Holly would get the job, but there were rumblings that the AD would make another hire instead. I don't have a clue as to which candidate that was, but if we were settled on Terri Williams-Flounoy at that time, there would have been absolutely no need to wait on Tennessee to finish their NCAA run. Just food for thought.

So what...it's not unusual to not get a first choice.....I mean, Nick was not hired until after at least one guy turned them down.....so you never know.

What's impressive now however is how many people apparently knew that someone other that Flo would have been a better hire...and are so sure that they would have done better. Amazing prescience to be able to foretell how Kelli or whichever would have done here.
