Facts? You are now desperate and continuing to call another poster a liar who did nothing to provoke you. Show me one fact to back up your accusations. Show me where I said anything about ACA or Obama as you accuse me of. Nobody is whining but you.

I'm outta here. Go to go pack to go to Auburn tomorow. Continue your little tirade if it makes you feel better.

I haven't called you a liar. I've just stated I don't believe you. Nobody has to believe anyone.

Suddenly the up and coming liberal kids don't like their health care. They will be Republicans soon.

http://www.foxnews.c...tcmp=latestnews

Can you explain your logic on this assertion?

Thanks tex, in these days of turmoil and instability, it is awesome to see one so dedicated to irrelevancy as thee.

The attached article PLAINLY talked about face to face controntation and a #hashtagwar.

No....it's a child who makes accusations then cries when his Daddy scolds him for being wrong. Be a man, sonny, and simply admit you made erroneous accusations. It's all there for any intelligent person to scroll back and see.

PT, everyone on this forum knows that is NEVER going to happen.

TexT....you are obsessed in defending Obama. Where did I say anything about Obama or the ACA?

Then what was that comment referring to?

I think this was a fair question. Why would young liberals soon be Republicans if, in your mind, this is limited to Cornell? Can you explain that, PT?

let me get this straight. students who were not covered on their parents plans paid over $2100 a year for campus health care. Now because of ACA (which exists because of democrats) they are fully covered by their parents plan with no need for a half ass campus coverage. The university is now going to charge them about $360 if they dont use the campus healthcare. So they are going to become Republicans due to the anger over having to supplement the campus health care that they dont need because of the ACA? I think students admitted to Cornell are smarter than that.

Apparently, according to the article, you are wrong.

I think you probably lost them about midway through. ;D

I must have missed the part where they are angry that ACA is allowing them to be covered on their parents plan.

Guess I also missed the part where they are blaming ACA for having to pay the healthcare fee to Cornell.

Can you help me out and show me where that's in the article?

I'd just like to point out that this sort of fee is very common, and it normally goes to subsidize an actual health center on campus that provides services. I pay mine to ECU each semester (and I use the hell out of it and get my money's worth!). Here, if you pay the fee, you get to use the center no matter what insurance you have.

I don't know how their specific economics work out at Cornell, but I imagine that it's very similar to that. Perhaps, in the past, reimbursement for usage of the preventative health center may have been billed to the student's insurance.

Actually, you know what, this makes perfect sense. After the ACA was passed and the students got to stay on their parents insurance, less were utilizing the Cornell insurance plan, which reduces the amount of money that the health center was getting to run the programs, which in turn reduces access. The fee is probably there to offset that loss in funding.

I honestly don't know what the big deal is about this. Like I said, it's a pretty common thing at many large schools to pay a health fee in return for being able to use the university health center.

this homer^^^^.... not exactly from the article, but a reliable source. :-\

Thats because no one ever said they were angry about that...

Thats not in there either.

I implore you to actually read the article this time.

The kids were protesting Cornell charging them for NOT getting a benefit.

That's like saying i went to Red Lobster and got a salad, but Red Lobster went ahead and charged me for a full on menu item because the salad i got didnt fit their archaic cost structures.

How in the name of God is that fair to anyone?

For the record, i am considering the "turning them into Republicans jab rhetorically over the top.

I dont believe that. It may make them mad as war at Cornell tho.

David......lighten up and laugh. The "jab" was intended as a liitle poke since Ivy league schools are typically so liberal. I guess this forum has become so polarized and bitter most all sense of humor has been lost.

Said without a hint of irony, huh, PT? :poke:

Seriously, though, you are right - it's why I took my sabbatical from it. That polarization creates an immediate, visceral response that really inhibits honest discussion.

Guilty as charged but it's hard to participate for long without getting sucked in. But I have taken the Stry Spirit challenge so I'm working at it.

Ah, I was just ribbing you. You're all right.

What, though, is a Stry Spirit challenge?

It's long story from another thread. Stry made a plea for more civility after seeing a long exchange between me and AUUSN. I pledged to do so and named it the Stry Spirit. I should note AUUSN refused.

I don't think it's honesty that's lacking from these discussions, it's knowledge and rationality.

The people who are ignorant and/or irrational are being honest as hell. I have little doubt of that. ;D

I disagree Homes. I do think honesty and might I add integrity are often missing. You have your beliefs as others have theirs. Given that fact, on this forum, polarization is inevitable. Take off the proverbial glasses if you will but, ignorance and irrationality are frequently expressed on both side of the aisle here. And I have zero doubt about that. ;)

Oh I am not isolating it to one side or the other, but the next time I print an irrational belief on the order of "AGW theory is a global conspiracy by the world's scientists perpetuated for the purpose of some sort of socialistic control", please point it out.

It's always about the poster and not the post with you.

If not, can you please designate the lines in Alexva's post you consider to be foolish?
