DEA partying with hookers hired by drug cartels

Is there as single dept or agency in this administration that isn't corrupt as hell?

Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration reportedly had “sex parties” with prostitutes hired by drug cartels in Colombia, according to a new inspector general report released by the Justice Department on Thursday.

In addition, Colombian police officers allegedly provided “protection for the DEA agents’ weapons and property during the parties,” the report states. Ten DEA agents later admitted attending the parties, and some of the agents received suspensions of two to 10 days.

I bet those 2 day suspensions really showed 'em

From the link you provided:

The report covers the period from 2009 to 2012, although some of the incidents occurred long before that...

The parties reportedly took place from 2005 to 2008, but the DEA’s Office of Professional Responsibility became aware of them only in 2010, after it received an anonymous complaint. DEA supervisors, however, had been aware of the allegations for several years because of complaints from management of the building in which the DEA office in Bogotá was located.

So this is not something to be pegged on "this administration." It was going on at least 3 years before Bush's term ended and the investigation began 2 years into Obama's tenure after an anonymous tip.

The allegations are bad. But let's not pile a dishonest swipe at "the enemy" on top of it. Evaluate it for what it is, not its potential to be damaging to the Obama Administration.

I ask again,. is there a dept or agency IN THIS ADMINISTRATION that as a result of having become completely politicized that isnt corrupt as hell? This little deal with the DEA just struck me as funny and quite emblematic of the fumbling stumbling incompetence that best characterizes everything coming out of this group. Its all politicized but I do give kudos to the DoD for not caving to the pressure to let the Bergdahl matter just go away.

The entire cabinet is ideologically driven that includes the DoJ. I stand by my original question and have damned good cause to ask it.

And I say again...you can't peg this on this administration or any politicization that has happened as a result of its leadership. At worst you could say that the corruption continued under this administration. At best you could say it went three years without being addressed by the previous one and two years into this administration's tenure, it began be be investigated.

So it's not emblematic of anything. It's just you, once again, being unable to discuss any issue, any problem, with any agency or department without straining for some way to tie it to Obama. Congrats on being the mirror image of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

I'm not denying/spinning anything.

Perhaps if you could quit reading things into what people say rather than just reading what they actually say, you wouldn't have these problems. I shouldn't have to walk you through this.

I'm thinking you all might not understand how widespread the DEA is, it's hard to blame it on any administration.

one DEA office has little to do with another, except the exchange of information. If you get one crap leader in.. lets say the DEA offices in Alabama he can run those offices into the ground himself. regardless of who the POTUS is.

Think of them as similar to a chain restaurant. The overall owner of Applebee's could be on his job, yet there still be some Applebee's around the country with crap service/food.

EDIT: and before someone picks at the above, I said similar. Not the exact same:)

For once I agree. Govt agencies tendcto do their own thing. Presidents come and go every 4 or 8 years. These bureaucrats are there sometimes up to 30 years maybe more.

True, but the problems have been systemic and chronic over the last 6 years throughout the agencies.

Tim, the only angst I have is dealing with people on this forum who can't think in any other terms other than binary ones. You jumped to an erroneous conclusion because of that type of thinking. The fact that I refuse to buy into it isn't my problem.

They have a like minded soul in the WH. Past presidents would do the best they could to reign these people in. The current occupant has essentially encouraged it or at the very least done nothing to discourage it. They know they can pretty much do as they please with no repercussion.

I wonder if its more fun to work for the secret service or DEA? What great recruiting material for Millineals.

Government is too damn big and must be shrunk. Folks like Rand Paul and Cruz look better every day. I would love to see the entire Fed Law enforcement infrastructure reduced by 50%. Corrupt and intrusive and have become totally unaccountable.

Oh the carnage that will come once we have a Republican POTUS.

Some are just to blind to see how much things have changed since we have matured with the information age.

Let the Bodies hit the floor. Let the bodies....

We can get rid of DEA, DOT, DHS, HHS, HUD, EPA, ATF Agriculture, Education, Energy, Commerce, Labor and maybe some others. What legitimate functions that are served by any of these agencies can be rolled over into the ones that remain after they have rid themselves of duties that are best served by the states.

Which is precisely my point. There is absolutely no accountability for gross incompetence or willful corruption in ANY govt agency...NONE. It doesn't matter if it is determined that staffers at the VA were keeping fraudulent lists, staffers at the IRS targeting political opponents, govt employees are watching more hours of porn a week than actually working, secret service agents getting drunk and driving through barricades at the WH..pick an agency and show me ONE example of accountability.

Assessing the obvious unwillingness of this admin to operate outside the original promise of "rewarding our friends and punishing our enemies" is NOT binary thinking. It is simply an honest admission it is what it is! Making constant excuses for this obvious lack of oversight or control doesn't make one look like they're taking the high road here. it makes one look like they're fine with it and that's EXACTLY what the abusers of the American citizen's trust want. Move along nothing to see here.
