DEA partying with hookers hired by drug cartels

I'm thinking you all might not understand how widespread the DEA is, it's hard to blame it on any administration.

one DEA office has little to do with another, except the exchange of information. If you get one crap leader in.. lets say the DEA offices in Alabama he can run those offices into the ground himself. regardless of who the POTUS is.

Think of them as similar to a chain restaurant. The overall owner of Applebee's could be on his job, yet there still be some Applebee's around the country with crap service/food.

EDIT: and before someone picks at the above, I said similar. Not the exact same:)

For once I agree. Govt agencies tendcto do their own thing. Presidents come and go every 4 or 8 years. These bureaucrats are there sometimes up to 30 years maybe more.

True, but the problems have been systemic and chronic over the last 6 years throughout the agencies.

They have a like minded soul in the WH. Past presidents would do the best they could to reign these people in. The current occupant has essentially encouraged it or at the very least done nothing to discourage it. They know they can pretty much do as they please with no repercussion.

Which is precisely my point. There is absolutely no accountability for gross incompetence or willful corruption in ANY govt agency...NONE. It doesn't matter if it is determined that staffers at the VA were keeping fraudulent lists, staffers at the IRS targeting political opponents, govt employees are watching more hours of porn a week than actually working, secret service agents getting drunk and driving through barricades at the WH..pick an agency and show me ONE example of accountability.

Assessing the obvious unwillingness of this admin to operate outside the original promise of "rewarding our friends and punishing our enemies" is NOT binary thinking. It is simply an honest admission it is what it is! Making constant excuses for this obvious lack of oversight or control doesn't make one look like they're taking the high road here. it makes one look like they're fine with it and that's EXACTLY what the abusers of the American citizen's trust want. Move along nothing to see here.

Again, if this problem started under a different administration and went unchecked, how exactly can this be pinned on *this* administration as something emblematic of their leadership abilities?

It didn't start with this administration. However, the lawlessness by the administration, using the IRS to target conservatives, fast and furious, among others, have sent the signal to these people that lawlessness and abuse of taxpayer money will be tolerated and not punished or maybe even encouraged. Whatever restraint they might have had before is long gone.

But that is a different subject.

What was implied by posting this, then bitching about how corrupt all these departments are under this administration, is that somehow these sorts of incidents and behaviors are a result of something the Obama Administration has done or failed to do. Then when I point out that this stuff goes back to 2005, three years before Obama took office and was only discovered 2 years into his tenure, folks either ignore that and keep beating the drum about Obama or they mindlessly barf out the "blame Bush" retorts instead of addressing what I said.

It's true, if you're going to blame a presidential administration for the deeds of underlings several levels down from the White House, then you cannot blame Obama and not also blame Bush. I happen to think that's a bunch of hooey. There's no way the WH, no matter who is up there, is going to know the daily goings-on 5 or 6 levels down at the DEA with a bunch of agents stationed in Colombia. Not unless someone blows the whistle on them...which is what happened here.

In other words, I wasn't blaming Bush, I was just pointing out the silliness of the logic being employed here.

I wonder if its more fun to work for the secret service or DEA? What great recruiting material for Millineals.

Government is too damn big and must be shrunk. Folks like Rand Paul and Cruz look better every day. I would love to see the entire Fed Law enforcement infrastructure reduced by 50%. Corrupt and intrusive and have become totally unaccountable.

We can get rid of DEA, DOT, DHS, HHS, HUD, EPA, ATF Agriculture, Education, Energy, Commerce, Labor and maybe some others. What legitimate functions that are served by any of these agencies can be rolled over into the ones that remain after they have rid themselves of duties that are best served by the states.

Yep....Fed Law enforcement has grown by 120k armed agents in the last 10 years...that is ridiculous. We could have secured the damn border instead of giving the friggin EPA and DOE armed agents.

And, as much as it pains me to say this, this is not all Obama's fault. This is what happens when government gets too damn big and unaccountable. I would do what any competent business leader would do in this case...cut anything not moving and start over from a new base...this is why we need folks like Paul, etc., involved. They will be dispassionate about this and do what is necessary. We don't need any body else that's in love with the Fed bureaucracy in charge. The bureaucracy is the problem.

I get that and I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just one more reason to get rid of a whole bunch of civil servants and eliminate agencies altogether.
