Jimmy "Red" Phillips dies

Played at Auburn from 55-57. Died in his hometown of Alexander City. I'm sad to say I didn't know much about him but he was a heck of a player. RIP http://m.auburntigers.com/m/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/032515aae.html

I am probably one of the few on here that actyally got to see him play. What a great athlete and a great unassuming person to boot. The other end, Jerry Wilson, was fraternity bro back then and was good enough in his own right to play in the pros and did play for the Philadelphia Eagles but Red Phillips was in a class by himself. Auburn has lost one of its greatest. RIP Jimmy and WDE!!!

His son, Dr.Jim Phillips Jr, has a family dental practice in Auburn. Attended Auburn with Jim Jr. Good Auburn family.
