GBAU83 212 Posted March 29, 2015 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Okay, we benefited by a poor call on the steal at second and it comes back against us with a bad call by the plate umpire. Cooper was safe as she was never tagged and definitely ahead of the tag (unlike Gadbois). And I think Missouri tried to get a double saying that Melero through her hands up to prevent the play and the replay clearly showed she ducked, glad they did not screw that one up at least. Lot better than the strike zone of plate umpire. Definitely a hitters umpire at the plate and we need to take advantage of it. Umpire today has been fine. Yesterdays was all over the place... Yesterdays was all over. This guy is just tight - making it a hitters zone. My only worry is the low outside on our leftys he has called but same pitch on righties is not a strike. Hit on the wrist and its obvious she was hit by the pitch. Ridiculous call here. She was OBVIOUSLY hit by the pitch.. Lot's of discussion....umpires talking, now the home plate umpire mentions to Missouri coach and he was voicing his opinion. GBAU83 212 Posted March 29, 2015 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Not pleased with this crew of umpires. Plate has a tight strike zone (judgment call), but both pitchers have to deal with that. But the missed call at home (would have scored a run with runner on first and no outs) and then the refusal to ask for assistance on the HBP on Melero - that's just bad. I do high school softball and one of the things you know to look for is how a player reacts in that situation. And if a coach ask you to go for help, do so. Just poor officiating process by the crew.
