WarTiger 3,896 Posted March 29, 2015 Author Share Posted March 29, 2015 Not pleased with this crew of umpires. Plate has a tight strike zone (judgment call), but both pitchers have to deal with that. But the missed call at home (would have scored a run with runner on first and no outs) and then the refusal to ask for assistance on the HBP on Melero - that's just bad. I do high school softball and one of the things you know to look for is how a player reacts in that situation. And if a coach ask you to go for help, do so. Just poor officiating process by the crew. You are overlooking the missed call at 2nd that went in our favor. Those happen. The hit by pitch on Melero could have been handled better possibly, but its the umpires job at home plate to make a call. He made the call. In the end he could have been stubborn and stood his ground and he didn't. He got help from his other umpires on the crew and they got it right. In the end, all that matters is getting it right. If Myers doesn't say something there, they probably never talk about it at all because each umpire has a job to do and they all did their jobs. In the end they got the call right. Melero coming up.. she was hit by a pitch her last time up and was in serious pain and pulled for a pinch runner. She had ice on the wrist in the dugout. Good to see her back in and up to bat.
