chopper to rachel...she throws to first for out #3...

FINAL. Auburn defeats Tennessee 12-9 after trailing 6-0 in the first. What a great game by Auburn... Auburn moves to 10-2 in conference play and 37-5 over all. It should be noted here that Auburn won 11 conferences games all season last year..

Interesting to see the difference in how the coaching staff handles the pitchers. The Vols seemed to be on a very short leash while the Auburn pitchers were allowed to try and work out of difficult situations. I was getting the feeling that coach was leaving Walters in too long but she did a terrific job in that last inning and for the entire game for that matter. Sure was good to see us finally get to the Tennessee picture that gave us such fits in game #2.

In game 2 of the series, we did use all 4 pitchers to try and stop the bleeding, but no one seemed to stay in a rhythm. Very interesting to let Walters work through her struggles and find her groove again. Davis gave up those runs in the first, and other than the rocky 5th inning, Walters wasn't roughed up.

On the other hand, Tennessee basically sold out to try and break up our offensive rhythm by changing pitchers as soon as each one got into trouble. They have pitched by committee like that all year. Very nice redemption to touch Gaffin up after she gave us fits on Friday.
