More pandering to his leftist atheist base...

Seems rather "politically convenient" coming from you, Raptor. All too happy to USE the Christians when it serves your purposes?

Yup. Pretty convenient to "use" Christians when the discussion is concerning Christians. That is not "using" at all. That is discussing the leftist attack on Christians. Gonna have to do better than that.

Who exactly are the "leftists" and, how are they attacking Christianity?

A self-proclaimed atheist, proclaiming the political left is defined by atheism, doesn't seem strange to you?

If you wish to embrace this new form of McCarthyism and, cast the liberals as the "communists", that is fine. However, I would caution using Christ in this endeavor. I would also suggest a cursory review of 20th century politics.

Nobody is using Christ. Apparently you think standing up for Christianity is using Christ for political gain. I agree the recent comments from obama aren't an actual attack, but it is very frustrating watching the leader of the "free" world refuse to acknowledge that Islamic extremism exists while taking pot shots at Christianity. As for the real attack....

1. Acts of hostility toward people of Biblical faith:

December 2009-Present - The annual White House Christmas cards, rather than focusing on Christmas or faith, instead highlight things such as the family dogs. And the White House Christmas tree ornaments include figures such as Mao Tse-Tung and a drag queen. [1]

[11]

February 2011 – Although he filled posts in the State Department, for more than two years Obama did not fill the post of religious freedom ambassador, an official that works against religious persecution across the world; he filled it only after heavy pressure from the public and from Congress. [12]

January 2011 – After a federal law was passed to transfer a WWI Memorial in the Mojave Desert to private ownership, the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that the cross in the memorial could continue to stand, but the Obama administration refused to allow the land to be transferred as required by law, and refused to allow the cross to be re-erected as ordered by the Court. [13]

It also lists the Founding Fathers -- those "colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule" -- as examples of those involved in "extremist ideologies and movements." [28]

August 2013 - A Senior Master Sergeant was removed from his position and reassigned because he told his openly lesbian squadron commander that she should not punish a staff sergeant who expressed his views in favor of traditional marriage. [29]

It stated: "On the eighth day, God looked down on His creation and said, 'I need someone who will take care of the Airmen.' So God created a First Sergeant." Because the video mentioned the word "God," the Air Force required that it be taken down. [36]

You do realize that most of your references are related to the military, don't you? We need to get Jesus back in the Army? What, you want to fight people who kill in the name of god by killing in the name of God? Do you think that might make us look a little hypocritical?

Let's just go with your own assessment though: " I agree the recent comments from obama aren't an actual attack,....."

Do you believe you are:

Defending Christ

Defending Christianity

Promoting partisanship

Actually only parts of my list are military...and yes..we are one nation UNDER GOD. We should absolutely seek out evil and eradicate it in the name of Jesus (and by evil I mean those committing genocide against Christians)

You have no argument for all the non-military items so you attack with the one minute detail you can find. And for my own assessment, I am doing none of the things on your list with that statement. I am simply not agreeing with using that comment as a basis to claim obama is anti-Christian. The list I provided gives much stronger points to validate the argument.

I guess you believe we should tell soldiers they can't have bibles and force pastors to perform gay weddings and force people to retire for supporting traditional marraige. Those are the type of "military" things listed that seem to oppose.....so you support silencing all Christian voices and forcing Christians out of the military and adding Catholics to the extremist list....

I think Christians should be positive and loving in their expressions of faith. I do not believe they should seek the government limiting the rights of others as a means of protecting their own beliefs.

I doubt Jesus wants to be in the military or the government. In my most humble opinion, He would rather be in our hearts. I do not believe that Christ is political, at all. Christ does not bend us to His will. He offers His love, guidance, compassion and, asks us to follow. I think we have to be very cautious in regards to the causes we take up in the name of Christ, particularly when they involve any form of force.

So being allowed to carry their own bibles, support their own religious beliefs and not be forced to act in a manner contradictory to those beliefs, not being forced out for having those beliefs, and being put on extremists lists for being Catholic is somehow seeking the government to limit the rights of others? It is in fact the government limiting the rights of Christians, not the other way around. Anybody that graduated elementary school can see that clear as day.

As for Jesus and war...

Deuteronomy 20:10-12: “When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it.”

Please stop speaking of the military on this subject as you have no idea what you are talking about; only what you have read on some kooky website. Thanks.

Typical response from somebody that has no defense or input on the matter. Kooky website? Google is your friend. Check it out, every single one of those events happened. You're the one that has no clue what you're talking about so please stop interjecting you're useless opinion. Don't bother shooting the messenger just because you can't dispute the facts. Thanks!

I don't need google Skippy, I have my career as evidence that the crap you referenced is BS. I've never told one of my troops they can't carry a bible. I didn't tell my Civilian that works for me to wash his forehead. My base held a sunrise service and I attended Easter Service at our Base Chapel. I have been taught about Just War, at the Air Force War College.

Oh I get it, because you didn't personally do it it's not plausible that other people did. Good point. You must be right. It must all be lies from some kooky website simply because it didn't happen at the base that you were at. Sorry, but that doesn't prove a damn thing except that maybe you didn't partake. Most of the events are listed have been widely reported and burying your head in the sand is not proof that they did not happen

Let's follow that passage further, Deuteronomy 20:10-18 (quoting the King James version since that is apparently the version you quote):

"When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:

And when the Lord thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the Lord thy God hath given thee.

Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.

But of the cities of these people, which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth. But thou shalt utterly destroy them..."

While I respect your right to hold your own beliefs, I really don't think this is Jesus' belief about war. In fact, it sounds more like the actions of ISIS. At the very least, if we practice some of this--smiting all males, taking captured women unto ourselves, or slaying everything that breathes--we would quickly be charged with war crimes by modern Western standards and deservedly so!

Meanwhile , our former masters...

David Cameron declares: 'Britain is still a Christian country'

And Britain has an officially recognized state Church, the Church of England, with its monarch as the state-recognized head of that church, something expressly forbidden by our Constitution.

Indeed Great Britain was once our master, but we overthrew that yoke under the leadership of those Founding Fathers that the Right loves to idealize. And religious liberty was one of the freedoms for which those founders fought.

At least four of our original 13 states were initially colonized by people fleeing religious persecution: Massachusetts by Puritans/Pilgrims, Maryland by Catholics, and Pennsylvania by Quakers, all of whom endured discrimination at the hands the official Church of England. Then Rhode Island was founded by persons fleeing the persecution of Puritans in Massachusetts. So which particular brand of Christianity was Prime Minister Cameron talking about?

And I have a better understanding of your point and the purpose of your post now. Thanks.

Certainly all three Abrahimic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, have at times endorsed warfare in their history and/or scripture.

Nothing and that's my point. Per DoD

It is DoD policy that requests for accommodation of religious practices should be approved by commanders..." [emphasis added] To this exhortation is added, however, a critical caveat: requests for accommodation should be approved, but only "when accommodation will not have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, standards, or discipline."

Who exactly are the "leftists" and, how are they attacking Christianity?

Obama, would be one. He was mocking Christians at an EASTER PRAYER BREAKFAST... seems pretty cut and dry to me.

A self-proclaimed atheist, proclaiming the political left is defined by atheism, doesn't seem strange to you?

I didn't proclaim any such thing. Must not be talking about me.

If you wish to embrace this new form of McCarthyism and, cast the liberals as the "communists", that is fine. However, I would caution using Christ in this endeavor. I would also suggest a cursory review of 20th century politics.

Wooo ! Veiled " Hitler " reference ?

Go back 2 pages and read my very long post. The 2cnd half of the post details anti-Christian acts by military. If you doubt any of the instances, please look them up. They are all accurate. It may not be the whole military, but it is clearly happening. Those saying it isn't are simply refusing to even look at the evidence available.

I will accept your claims of accuracy at present. However, I would like to see those that disagree with your (42?) claims provide precise examples where you were wrong.

Our job is not to ask that God respond to our notion of truth -- our job is to be true to Him, His word, and His commandments. And we should assume humbly that we’re confused and don’t always know what we’re doing and we’re staggering and stumbling towards Him, and have some humility in that process. And that means we have to speak up against those who would misuse His name to justify oppression, or violence, or hatred with that fierce certainty. No God condones terror. No grievance justifies the taking of innocent lives, or the oppression of those who are weaker or fewer in number.

And so, as people of faith, we are summoned to push back against those who try to distort our religion -- any religion -- for their own nihilistic ends. And here at home and around the world, we will constantly reaffirm that fundamental freedom -- freedom of religion -- the right to practice our faith how we choose, to change our faith if we choose, to practice no faith at all if we choose, and to do so free of persecution and fear and discrimination.

There’s wisdom in our founders writing in those documents that help found this nation the notion of freedom of religion, because they understood the need for humility. They also understood the need to uphold freedom of speech, that there was a connection between freedom of speech and freedom of religion. For to infringe on one right under the pretext of protecting another is a betrayal of both.

He's great at speeches with the teleprompter. He doesn't go anywhere without the thing. As to the text of the speech, well it all sounded good but his actions always betray his words. He speaks of treating everyone equal but he's perfectly happy to infringe on the rights of Crhistians and conservatives all day long. He loves doing it or seeing it happen.
