Duke study finds natural variability impacts global warming

Now nobody can confuse Duke with being right wing or being supported by "deniers" Duke is uber liberal from top to bottom. I bet you couldn't find ten conservatives among the faculty there. They simply state that according to the findings of their study that temperatures are highly impacted by nature and that these models that have been used by environmentalists just simply haven't been accurate.

There's millions of these types of "news" bits out there.

Please find them all and start a new thread for each one.

Bits of info need not be reported that contradict the official govt line that AGW is an immediate crisis.

Christians being martyred in record #'s by Muslims is a " generational " matter .

The article addresses variability, not the overall trend.

A tale of two reactions from GW kool aid crowd :

Thread started that tracks along with the GW freak out:

"Awesome! Thank you for posting!"

Thread started that goes against the GW freak out:

"Oh great, another climate change thread. Go find every little article about climate change and post it why don't you."

Very predictable.

Actually, USN stays out of these conversations. Smarter than me. :-\

I know homer and the rest of the AGW crowd here would not go along with this. They'll never be dissuaded from their belief that man is responsible for any warming that may be taking place. The very idea that man is responsible is absurd and arrogant beyond belief. I'd be a lot more inclined to believe it if the cure wasn't the wet dream of every socialist that has ever lived.

And they say I can never be convinced. Ha!

Unlike y'all, we have evidence and reasonable conclusions. Shoot, I can't even get you to accept that evolution is a fact.

Is this that silly "micro isn't related to macro" evolution trope again?

I stopped mowing my yard, and now my dog has became bipedal to look over the tall grass.

Mims knows silly when he sees it.

If only more people called you out on your silly opposition to facts. ;D

I think I am starting to understand:

If a species is faced with obstacles that affect its survivability it will evolve over time to increase the chances of survival.

If the earth is faced with man-made obstacle that affects its survivability, then we are screwed unless the government saves us.

Grumpy that was awesomely logical. It of course will be countered with a TPM post or one from some AGW think tank countering it with emotional quivering. For the record, one more time, I see the point that man is contributing. I just find it hysterical whenever someone asks a question or points out how AGW modeling has failed horribly that we inevitably get a flat earthen attack.

How about I counter it with my own words? I just went over it in the other thread.

Too bad, cause he's wrong. (I misread this for posterity's sake I'm leaving it up)

Also too bad, because in this day and age, you should be ridiculed for your silliness if you reject evolution.

We do agree. People and animals and plants adapt. No one disputes that. I don't see what the issue is.

Do you agree that all living things today evolved from a common ancestor? If not, then we do not agree.

I think I am starting to understand:

If a species is faced with obstacles that affect its survivability it will evolve over time to increase the chances of survival.

Actually, this is somewhat correct. It's a lot less guided than that, though. Some animals within a population will manifest a mutation that may result in some kind of advantage. Natural selection then "selects" from what variation is available at that specific moment, this variation having been caused by mutation. Evolution is mutation followed by natural selection. It's also a very slow process, which brings us to...

If the earth is faced with man-made obstacle that affects its survivability, then we are screwed unless the government saves us.

...this bit of stupidity.

What makes changes like we're seeing on our planet now so threatening is their rapidity. Rapid changes precede extinction events (and we're in the midst of one currently!).Look up any major extinction event in our history. The common thread is rapid environmental changes.
