I believe that it shows how many are emotionally and selfishly invested in politics rather than, intellectually and honestly invested in the country. There is way too much rhetoric and distortion contributing to the "divide" for it to be a true reflection of independent thought. Whether left or right, conservative or liberal, ideologues want to define "democracy", not actually practice it.
