AU64 10,122
Haven't been able to find when the short fall baseball schedule begins. Sometime in September? It's unofficial I guess but will be interesting to see it A.Grier can get his stroke back. AG finished the season in a tailspin and played on the college USA team this summer but only hit .167 and struck out 7 times in 18 at bats...seemed to have lost his starting position due to his inactive bat. This is not the same guy who was hitting .400 for quite a while and was ripping doubles right and left. Also...no news on K Thompson and his prognosis. Fall is when the new guys get a chance to show a bit of their stuff. A pretty good sized batch of new pitchers....something we really need. Meanwhile, I expect that many of the guys are playing in various wooden bat leagues up north. In past years we've gotten reports on how they are doing but I've seen nothing this summer yet. TigerFreak 6
I have not heard how our guys are doing in their summer leagues, but we got a huge break when Daniel Sprinkle decided to come to Auburn instead of signing with Cleveland.

How did that kid end up at AU?????? His brother plays football at Ark. and supposedly Danny wants to try both football and baseball.

Maybe like Frank Thomas back in the day...someone convinced him that his future was baseball and no point in getting his knees ruined on the football field. http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=405026 I assume this is the guy you are talking about. Good article here: http://m.pbcommercia...sprinkle-s-life OK that makes sense just thought with the good program Arky has and his brother playing football there it would be a major haul to get him out of the state. Plus I'm wondering if he still wants to try football which I think would be a mistake especially being a pitcher.

Maybe with him being drafted relatively high out of high school he realizes his potential in baseball and will exclusively play it.

The Arkansas newspaper article linked above....no mention of football.....does not seem to be in the picture at all. He sees himself working with Coach Holliday and going for the MLB draft in 3 years.
TigerFreak 6
Daniel Sprinkle came in today and got his TigerCard. I thought he was a football player until I saw the name. He is a big fella.
AU64 10,122
OK...finally some good news about the fall baseball....a bunch of studs reporting to the team and CSG is saying that the starters from last year will have to work hard to keep their positions. Some big guys, as mentioned above....maybe a little less small ball this year? http://www.auburntigers.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/090115aaa.html

The best way to kill a big inning is to waste an out trying to bunt a runner to 3rd.
