I feel better about them being armed that a lot of the semi-trained civilians that carry. But I am not sure it would really help in a case like this. I am not that familiar with what happened exactly, but it appears like the guy was shooting into the building from the outside. Bullet resistant glass might have been a better defense. Reports are the killer coward shot from his car in the parking lot. Luckily he aimed low or the weight of the AK47 lowered the aim to hit lower on the doors and windows. I also think the glass has solar film that kept him from seeing and aiming at a person. I am a gun owner who thinks it is way too easy to purchase and carry guns. But I agree with homer who said earlier that it shouldn't be too big of a reach to let military trained recruiters carry weapons when virtually any knuckle head can legally carry. Some cops are not even trained to the degree of these active duty military. But cole you are right it may not help much. It's not like this happens every day. At any of the various attacks on homeland military bases we've seen recently,or the two (?) at the Washington Navy yard, it very likely could have. If anyone needs weapons, it is the commanders. Other than recruiters being the link where the civilian world meets the military world, I don't see why just recruiters should be armed.
