Watching the SEC media days, there was one question the same writer asked each coach about the "full cost of attendance" What are they talking about??? Why is it different at each schools?? Who receives it (baseball players too)?? Do they receive it every month or semester?? And how would this play in recruiting???

Your baseball/softball player question is a good one. If a kid is getting 1/4 scholarship, do they also get 1/4 of the money?

The NCAA set the "full cost" for every school. Somehow, they calculated that it costs more to live in Auburn and Starkville than it costs to live in Gainesville, Fl. and some other more glamorous places. How they came to the figures and how often there might be revisions hadn't been released when I saw the initial article. Also, the timing of payments wasn't mentioned.

As for how it plays in recruiting, since the difference between schools is not that significant it probably won't matter much. Now, the smaller schools that aren't participating in this were already taking leftovers anyway, so I don't think they will be hurt much.

Actually, it is based on some federal formula which is already generating a lot of questions. https://auburn.rival...783257

This just gives the SEC numbers. The schools are responsible for crunching the numbers in the formula. When you look at the national numbers it gets much curiouser. For instance, Stanford (which is in SF Bay area) has a MUCH lower cost of attendance than AU. It will be fun to see how this plays out!
