That a solider charged by his commander with desertion and awaiting an Article 32 investigation would be allow leave by the same commander.

Bergdahl appears to be a total screwup. His commander has charged him with desertion and he's at a Pot growing house! Then he has to ask the sheriff and Army for help in getting back to Ft Sam Houston so he want be AWOL!!!

I agree but he wasn't on pre trail confinement. He's a turd for sure but never the less was on authorized leave.
