This has been brewing for several days. I don't know what happened, all I know is that it's something that happened recently. We are likely to be firing him "for cause" meaning we won't pay the buyout.

AU article quotes Jay Jacobs saying fired with cause.

I may be wrong but this "feels" like a witch hunt

It's not. He was fired for cause, which basically means he broke an NCAA or University rule. He violated the terms of his contract in a serious way. So Auburn will not be paying his buyout. This is not about him being a jerk.

Not a witch hunt. A flaming a--hole that finally got what was inevitable (and almost happened a year ago). Wish Casey Dunn would come to AU......

I think Butch Thompson from what I've read would probably be a superior pick to Casey.

Hate it mostly because we don't need the continuous coaching drama at AU. Hope Holliday is not involved or included...

He's on administrative leave also, so I wouldn't bet on it.

If one guy is fired and another is on administrative leave - sounds NCAA related to me. Hate to hear this - as much as he didnt seem to sit well with many on this board he did seem to have the team going in the right direction. FTR - I am not on board with Casey Dunn.

After Golloway's apologist, Powerofdixieland, blasted me for bringing up Joe Simpson's comments of Golloway, I would love to hear his comments about Golloway's firing....

Even though, as powerofdixieland pointed out in June, "Joe never met Golloway," Joe was still an alum of Oklahoma that didnt want any affiliation of the university for as long as Sonny was there. And if that strong statement wasn't a red flag, I don't know what is.

Something is fishy here. JJ fires a coach who has a team on the rise? First tourney in 5 years and a top 10 recruiting class. Golloway swears he did nothing wrong?!Something big must have been done that JJ thinks is the worst thing in the world, but Golloway does not think much wrong of it. We never heard much complaining from players on social media or anything of that nature. Rocky McCord actually just tweeted something to the effect of how good the staff was... I hope this is not an overreaction by JJ. I think it could well be an under-reaction by Golloway to a situation. I in fact think it probably is both. Going to be hard to get a non-rebuilding team again.... im not saying I love Golloway more than any other coach here, I'm saying that JJ has overreacted before and I hope it's not another case.

Interesting timing...right after a top 10 class of recruits reports to campus. Looked like we were on the right track to get back to the NCAA. I expect those guys are wondering what their future is...

Somebody (that being JJ) apparently thought it was very serious to make a move right now....which is not ideal for finding a replacement. But, Jack Leggett might be available as noted....and the kind of guy who is unlikely to cause trouble and has solid NCAA participation.

My opinion means nothing...and I'm not an apologist for any particular coach. I believed that the culture had to change and that Pawlowski had created a team that was unwilling to fight for anything. I'm pretty sure both sides put on a really good face when the Golloway/Auburn deal was made, and both were withholding. I am convinced we are too concerned about being "nice" within our athletic department. This has got to be an NCAA violation. I would bet it's minor, but the player parents have been relentless in their dislike of Golloway. I would also think that Sunny will not take this without a bloody mess of a fight.

If both coaches are on the carpet...sounds like a violation and not just being a horses-a** which normally does not get you fired as long as you win. They brought in a good class this year...#10 rated....would be nice if we could keep them all ....
