About the closest thing you can get to the death penalty....Larry Brown (again)...will lose 9 scholarships over a few years, banned from post season and other stuff. Lack of coaching control.

Can't SMU ever run their sports without having the hammer thrown at them by the NCAA? Why not shut all sports program at SMU cause it's clear they will never learn how to run a clean program.

Lol c'mon according to the article this is what happened:

In SMU’s case, a former men’s basketball administrative assistant completed online coursework for a student, allowing him to earn credit and compete ineligibly.

You honestly think that all our athletes are completing their online coursework by themselves... that say for example no Auburn University approved and hired tutor has ever done academic work for one of our athletes?

The major fault in this appears to lay with Brown who didn't report it. That is more an issue with him and not SMU.

NO...the major factor was lying to the NCAA about the issues when they came to light....kind of like what cost BP so dearly.....plus SMU's past history with NCAA violations...which apparently moved them past Arizona State as the leading scofflaw in college sports.

The funny thing is the the NCAA said they did not take Larry Brown's past history into account....so apparently the three time loser =life in jail does not apply here.
