This is the same thing Pryor got in trouble for just the difference was he was using money for tattoos and such. My understanding of the rule is that they can not receive money for their gear. If they do it is a violation. Otherwise the kids could have their second cousin setup a charity and then sell their gear to donate to that "charity". With that being said, kudos to him.
