AURealist 2,150
Sean White has started at QB three games this season. He's shown poise and an aggressive attitude. He threw 17 of 27 for 255 yards against Kentucky. No interceptions. No fumbles. So can we all now set aside our dreams of the Jeremy Johnson era that wasn't? Can we all agree, without reservation, that the young man previously known as "Sean White who will start this week at QB" has earned the right to be called "Auburn University Starting Quarterback Sean White"? "Aye."
lionheartkc 6,150
Aye indeed. He definitely showed that there was more than just potential in what we saw in his first 2 starts. Now he just needs to learn to slide so we don't lose him for the season on one of his scrambles.

AUClassof19 0
Absolutely. I love his poise and fiery attitude. The future for our offense looks bright with SW leading the charge.
I_M4_AU 6,122
Aye, he has poise, leadership and moxy. I noticed when 71 was flagged for unsportman like conduct, Sean was inbetween him and UK's 90 making sure 71 didn't do anymore damage. Not another lineman, RB, but a 6' nothin, 200lb QB. Love the leadership. He wants this team to suceed.
AUbritt 573
Aye. I think this somewhat resembles Peyton being 'named' the starting RB. Taking a looooooong time.
TitanTiger 17,602
Aye. He's doing things as a passer that you usually don't see until a guy is a couple of years into his career as a starter. He truly has a sense of the pressure and moves well in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield the whole time. And there's no panic in his eyes. He's the starter for the foreseeable future. FoundationEagle 637
I agree he should be, but I seriously doubt some on this forum will concede. Its not in their DNA to ever admit defeat, even when painfully obvious. If Ricardo catches those 3 or so dropped balls, SW would have had over 300 yards passing with no turnovers....Its getting very hard to argue against him, but some will try

AURex 1,516
Overall, he did good and solidified his starting position. If he hadn't badly overthrown that ball to the wide open receiver in the end zone, my smile would be bigger. How was it even possible for him to blow that pass? Still, he earned his Tiger stripes last night. He hit RL a lot, but he did complete passes to other receivers as well, and I was glad to see that. Timeslider 6 269
This kid is getting better each week. By the time UAT rolls around, he will have developed into a good leader on the offense. We just need to get the ball to the play makers and STOP running the wildcat then the zone then some other running play on first down. It would be nice to see more throws on first down. sevenlee36 1,420
My concern has been his overall arm strength. Can his throw power improve and if so by how much realistically?
FoundationEagle 637
In all reality, I'm not sure he improved that much, he was just finally put in a position to be successful. This entire game is the same SW we saw in the first drive of MSU, without the INT. I really believe he was this good on game 1 and 2, just got held back by the coaches. Either way, the kid is damn sure an SEC caliber QB and has more poise than some senior SEC qbs. i doubt JJ sees the field as an AU QB again except in mopup duty or if SW is out injured. Of course that can all change quickly, but that is where i think it stands currently.
FoundationEagle 637
My concern has been his overall arm strength. Can his throw power improve and if so by how much realistically? You must have missed the throw running to the left across his body 25 yards downfield like a rocket into a perfect spot to Ricardo....as well as many others. I honestly wondered if some of the drops were because he had too much zip on the ball. I don't think there is any need for improvement in this area... Also he looked like he gave everything he had on that throw to Stevens. It was 45-55 yards (not to mention the right touch and it was an easy score but it seemed he had to put all his mustard In It to get it there). I hope he has the arm strength but that concerned me. cole256 15,867
Lol, I wonder will this thread be shut down? This game he showed some things to think he's going to be good. The past two weeks has been fan boy stuff. The second drive I was really impressed. He's not good enough to carry a team yet so everybody still needs to improve around him. I didn't like that red zone throw, after it Gus hand cuffed him again. Later in the game he threw a ball away and I literally stood up and clapped. I'll give him my stamp after two things. We play Texas a&m and I can't help but chuckle a praise thread and he hasn't thrown a td yet. I think this reinforces my evil intention thread that run it's course

McLoofus 35,182
Very excited to see Sean making the most of his opportunity. Hope the team continues to gel around him. He got a lot more help from them last night- and his coaches- than either QB has gotten in the previous games this season. But yeah, I'm glad he's looking like the guy that a lot of us thought he would be coming in. And I'm glad we've got a couple extra days before the next game hopefully after getting some questions answered. Oh, and some of you folks would enjoy this season a lot more if you'd quit paying more attention to Sean's demographic attributes than his performance on the field. IronMan70 3,093
Aye, SW was poised, confident, threw several pinpoint passes, no turnovers, a leader on the field, he is a fierce competitor and the team responds well to him. His pocket presence is very good and he moves well with 1 or 2 steps to avoid the rush, staying calm eyes down the field to deliver the pass. He made that 1 bad decision to force a pass in the EZ on the same type play he had the int in the MSU game. He got an earful on the sideline and the next time that situation came up he threw it away. That's good stuff. The other pass to Stevens for an easy TD just sailed on him a little. I thought one of his best plays was on the deep pass caught by RL. It was a thing of beauty imo. Sean would have been sacked by a hard rushing DE but he took 1 step up in the pocket, kept his eyes downfield, saw the safety breaking from the left and threw that ball in the only place it could have been completed, to RL's back shoulder. RL made the adjustment the way he should and the result was a great impact play. If SW had continued to lead RL, that safety either tips the ball or intercepts it. That whole sequence is some heady stuff for any QB, let alone a Freshman QB. SW is only going to get better. Just wait till he throws his first TD. 80Tiger 830
I will bite. Obviously SW has earned the right to continue starting. I think it is obvious that JJ has more raw tools but cannot harness it to be a productive QB at this point. I think SW did a good job last night. Yes receivers dropped some passes as well as KY dropping an int. The missed throw at the end of the half is all on the QB. I am like some on here, I don't think he particularly has a strong arm and his running plays will be by exception and not part of the normal offense. I just don't think he is the talent to take us to contention for SEC championships. I believe we will be recruiting a JC QB or potential graduate transfer.
