why No tight End plays?

Just curious. watching how many third down plays by other teams are completed tight end passes makes me wonder why we have gotten away from that. Does it not fit into the offensive scheme? no personnel? It just seems to be a big need area

We are a finesse team, we would rather fake you out with a slow developing statue of liberty play that hasn't gained a yard since since 2010.

One of many questions about things missing from Malzahn Offense lately. The Wheel Route, Bubble Screen, Quick Slant and Jet Sweep have all but disappeared.

Exactly!!! I wish a reporter would ask him why these plays have been shelved!!!!

The jet sweep disappeared? Since when?

was also wondering about that...thought maybe Gus left that page from his playbook in the copy machine by mistake last week.

Maybe he's saving them for a big game when he needs them.....though we pretty much need them every week it seems.

And your wr's need to be very good at blocking for screens and able to make people miss, and when has the quick slant ever been in the playbook?

Auburn's playpage is just one page and it's been sent to every team in the conference

That's absolutely not true....I see him looking on both sides of that sheet he holds during each game so I know there are at least 2 pages.

Because we have beasts that should be playing tailback wasting away at hback/tightend.

Who? Where?

Pettway.

what have you seen to say he should be playing tailback?

6'0" 235, physical beast, great receiver out of the backfield, and ran over a couple of guys against Arkansas. Remember when we ran three straight running plays in one of the OT periods against Arky? He was the one that blew up Arky's dline on those plays. He should be given a shot.

Based on those parameters Braden Smith should be playing tailback. he is even bigger and better blocker

Think he means successful jet sweep.

Its hard to work the Tight End into our 5-play offense.
