We don't know yet who will start the Birmingham Bowl at quarterback for Auburn, but we do know it appears Sean White is cleared and healthy enough to participate in practices.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has told those close to him he expects to hire a defensive coordinator before the end of the week, a person familiar with the situation tells AL.com.

Malzahn's search for a coordinator will enter a fourth week Monday, but it appears the third-year Auburn coach has narrowed in on a few names. Names reportedly in contention include South Florida defensive coordinator Tom Allen and Mississippi State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.

Malzahn, however, has kept the search relatively quiet after misfiring on an attempt to hire Florida State's Charles Kelly.

Prince Tega Wanogho Jr., one of the most highly-touted members of Auburn's 2015 recruiting class, has been participating in bowl practices.

The 6-foot-8, 250-pound defensive end fully dressed out and participated in Auburn's bowl practice at Hoover High School on Sunday morning.

"(The first-year defensive ends) stepped it up big time, especially Prince," senior defensive lineman DaVonte Lambert said. "The first time practicing this week and last week. Prince, he's learned a lot in these past couple of days."

"He's back out there doing some things," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn. "You can see he's a big, athletic guy. He just needs experience."

Pretty sure he can't play but is eligible for practice. Someone else with better knowledge of rules can verify.

From what I've heard, his qb coaches are so bad that they haven't even bothered to tell him how to use the laces properly
