Orange Bowl (Clemson vs. Oklahoma)

You know, it's amazing to think that in the past two years, we have been labeled a playoff contender. In both seasons, we threw away mammoth opportunities. Gus will get (and needs) a couple more years but we'd better appear in the playoff (or come near close) by the end of the decade. I still think 2018 is our best shot, unless TQ gets healthy this year or SW can improve, in which case it should be 2017.

Anyways, I'm kind of pulling for Oklahoma. While I don't like them in the least, it'd be nice if Texas ends up having beaten the national champions. Oh, and I HATE Clemson. So even though it's hard to say, "Boomer Sooner." I still hope Sparty wins it all, though.

Even though I'd like to see the Tigers win I believe OU is the best team in college football. Clemson has 60 minutes to prove me wrong....and move on.

This is one that I can watch and just enjoy how good they both are. I don't hate either one so it doesn't matter. I just hope Michigan State wins tonight.

True. I just want a good game

Sparty at the buzzer with a 3.......

Oh, we are talking football. ;)

Yeah me too. I just don't see MSU winning. Alabama just doesn't lose to pro style power I teams. It plays right into their strength. Either OU or Clemson are a much tougher match-up IMO.

I don't know...might be nice to open the season beating the "defending' national champion ??? :-\/>

Well maybe but if Dabo wins the N C, the crimson necks will try and claim it

Probably put up a statue.

Haha

3rd and 3 and Clemson runs a reverse and the player that got the handoff on the reverse, throws the ball away to avoid loss yardage. That's a penalty for Intentional Grounding. The announcers were totally clueless as to why that would be intentional grounding. Fortunately they had an NCAA rules expert (We use his training videos in meetings) to set them straight. Likely they still don't get it.

Well that's an interesting rule...didn't know that!

It's one that I cover in the Rules and Interpretations thread and I believe its in my first or 2nd list of plays. Look for a play involving Georgia. Happened in a bowl game too. Announcers were clueless then too.

Even though it ended up not mattering because Oklahoma held them to a field goal but Clemson caught a break when they didn't review the spot when Watson avoided getting sacked. Watson's forearm looked like it was down even though his knees weren't, so they could have spotted the ball back where his arm was down had they reviewed it.

I remember some talk about it on the play with Tre Mason (I think) where they called it an incomplete pass when he just shoveled it at the line after the handoff.

I would love to see a replay of the pass play where they flagged Clemson for sideline interference. That is not a warning. That is someone being in the restricted area and interfering with the administration of the game. They had to have gotten in the way of one of the sideline officials.
