Well damn hate to make two threads but just came across this.

This season didn’t end very well for Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin. His Aggies lost five of their last eight games after starting 5-0, including a Music City Bowl defeat at the hands of Louisville.

Additionally, Texas A&M had a pair of quarterbacks, Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray, transfer out of the program, and Sumlin had to suspend wide receiver Speedy Noil, one of the team’s best weapons, for the bowl game. Not the best of times in College Station.

Now, according to a report by the NFLNetwork’s Michael Silver, Sumlin is one of two college coaches pushing hard to make the jump to the professional level.

Good luck with that one. Professional teams are leery of taking on a college coach to begin with. One that has had the trouble he had this year will be lucky to considered right now. Something is going on there in College Station.

If TAMU does open up, will they go after Chip Kelly? Not sure I want to have to deal with him in the West.

Not sure if he'd want to deal with the West's defense(s). ;)

Texas A&M parts ways with OC Jake Spavital

Texas A&M and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital "mutually decided to part ways," the school announced Sunday.

Spavital, 30, spent three seasons with the Aggies, as the quarterbacks coach and as offensive coordinator the past two seasons. Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, who hired LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis prior to the 2015 season, will be searching for his second coordinator in as many years.

you normally get hired for a new job when you excel at your current one, right? unless you have a specific situation like gene chizik anyway.
