SEC QB's must really suck to be taking these transfers

Florida’s quarterback depth took a humongous hit when Will Grier was suspended midway through the season, forcing Treon Harris into the starting role. Grier has since announced he’s transferring from the program.

The Gators picked up a needed quarterback piece today with the transfer of Purdue’s Austin Appleby. Appleby, who threw for 1,260 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions in five games this fall, has already graduated from Purdue and will play his fifth year year for the Gators.

On paper this doesn't seem like a really big deal, he is big but his stats against mediocre competition was not all that stellar. His is also slow 4.8 to 5.07 in the 40. Good Luck They draw LSU and Arky next year.

As for QB play in the SEC not sure it was all that bad to be honest. Defense seems to be up this year and if you go look at some numbers for the teams with "experienced QBs" seems ok

These 5th year/graduated players generally bring one thing of importance and that is experience which often outweighs pure athleticism of younger and inexperienced players.

And it's not just the SEC...note that Oregon had a 5th year QB this past season and has brought in another for the coming season and a few years ago, Wisconsin brought the guy from NC State....Russell Wilson, now with Seattle.

Granted that's an emergency move but FSU and Ga did that to start the season and I bet if the right guy became available, AU would give it a try. These days, if you don't have a very good QB, you are gonna be an average team. JMO
