Not bad, indeed! Surprises me a little, I didn't realize he and Sumlin had similar offensive philosophies.

He has obviously "evolved" like good coaches are able to do. He was pretty traditional I- formation coach back in his days at AU.

Good to see. I think he was a plus for us in his days at Auburn.

Probably so but was pretty traditional and Tubs traded him in on Petrino to get a little more offensive juice. He's been a lot of places and has been "competent" but not outstanding I guess .....but never stayed anywhere very long....who knows why? :dunno:

He's a fine coach I guess although I wouldn't think the aTm fans are too knocked out over the hire. Of course, if he produces, everyone will love him and it would have been a genius hire. Nature of the beast I suppose.

Sounds like the most recent addition to our staff. :-[

Yep....as i said about the other guy...fits right in. Surprised nobody mentioned bringing Mazzone back....we seem to have an affinity for former AU coaches.

I felt bad for him when tubs let him go. He had turned down the head coaching position at Memphis the previous year to wait on a better offer. I guess he was ok at NC st. But I remember reading " the blind side". The Tuhoys did not think kindly of him Au ole miss.

Yea they aren't thrilled about the hire. Their 247 thread on hiring him had a ton of down votes. I've seen the nickname "no endzone mazzone" floating around on various message boards.

I remember the sleet at b-d stadium. Ist and goal at the 4 with Rudy Johnson in the backfield and a fullback that had never been stopped for a loss and he throws a fade route for a INT. Tubbs was as mad on the sideline as I was.

So maybe he has been secretly calling plays for AU this season in the red zone? :dunno:

Still don't get that. Philip Rivers runs and moves like he has cinder blocks tied to his shoes. Who the hell wanted to send someone who runs slower than Terrance Cody out to run routes or ask him to move laterally in any fashion?

he also played safety and had several interceptions at Athens High. Not saying he is fast by any stretch but not any slower than Lutz. i think some schools saw him on defense too.

True. He ran a 5.08 40 yard dash at the combine though LOLOLOL. Lutz HAD to be faster than that. Could you imagine having a player on the back end of the secondary running a 5+ sec 40? He'd be getting burnt every time in coverage.

Not railing on you alexava, more just making fun of the coaching staffs that thought that safety was the position for him

yea, i know for sure he couldn't play safety. borderline too slow for LB, but iv'e seen slower TEs.
