Anybody know if he got a raise or any atta boys for the job he did with the db's for the bowl game? i am a novice fan that only understands so much but i believe the bowl game was the best i have ever seen auburn's secondary play. i know some say it was because the rest of the d did their jobs and that may be true as well. they still looked awesome to me and i am still kinda in shock. so i am hoping the kid or young man was rewarded for it. and lord i hope he hangs around as well. also i might have spelled his name wrong.

I think the cumulative effect that Muschamp's and TRob's coaching had a lot to do with the D performance in the bowl game. Gideon, TWill, Thompson and RG get big atta boys for holding it together though.

Strange that people seem so impressed that we handled a down Memphis team that did not have their HC.

Strange how people can always find something negative to say. Strange how the other teams HC controls our db's getting into position, deflecting passes or causing incompletions and interceptions. Strange how the other teams HC controls our defensive line getting great pressure. Lots of strange running around.

Why? Is? This? Even? Necessary? It would mean more if you took the time to analyze every win, close or not, from every team in high school, college, or pro football that played an opponent of "debatable" strength on any given Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. Be glad for the win and the momentum it brings as we look ahead to 2016-17 with a great staff coming together even as you gripe!

P.S. Please do remember our oft-criticized-all-season-long defense, also without their "DC", contained the highest-ranking projected QB draft pick, according to Todd McShay...

But they still had the same OC they had all year and he also happened to be the interim HC for the game. Meanwhile we had an interim DC, LB and secondary coach facing their regular OC.

IronMan70 rocks. I don't know how anyone could love Auburn and not be ecstatic about this particular bowl victory with so many pre-existing question marks, no matter what, considering all of the woes of this season! I can't believe how blind it is possible to be...

That Memphis team beat Ole Miss and did it convincingly. They were every bit as good as some teams in the SEC. Their QB will likely be drafted in the first round and no later than the early 2nd round. We were not favored to win the game. The win was a solid win and one to be proud of.

Bravo, Doc! Sometimes I forget that posts like blueridge's just help us become more skillful at expressing what we believe and the truth. SOMETIMES (not always, but I believe so in this case) they are one and the same.

If he doesn't go till the 2nd round it's our fault

We've got more than a few people here that are afflicted with what I call the eeyore syndrome.

I would imagine someone will grab up Gideon. I just liked the way Dbs played in this game over any AU game for many years. They played tight and aggressive for 60 minutes. Hate to say it but they reminded me of UAT defensive backs. LT, TW, and RG were very good, but BG was the star IMHO.

Some are as bad as "eeyore", Eyegore and even Al Gore! :Sing:

you forgot that you aren't allowed to say anything negative or criticizing in any way man. That was your mistake here :)

To everything there is a season. To make a statement like blueridge's above with MOST of the posters from December 30 until today being "on board" with assessing the bowl performance as a great one, regardless of the setting, is a case of not understanding or stubbornly refusing to admit the obvious. Why slam one of the brightest spots we've had all year? It's the best defensive performance we've seen ALL YEAR, and the offense looked better, also, with both AU quarterbacks having a decent game. Memphis was a worthy opponent, maybe with the best quarterback we've faced all year, coached under more continuity than we had at the time of the bowl, as was fully explained in posts above.

There is a place and a time for criticism...but it's far-fetched to find its appropriateness for this particular scenario. The AUFamily byline says, "By Auburn Fans for Auburn Fans." I know there are Auburn critics here, as well...but what I love about AUFamily is...it's easy to tell who are Auburn Fans, first, Auburn Critics, second and when warranted. Everyone has the right to his/her opinion. But to be a Critic, first and frequently, is going to raise questions as to one's true Fan-dom...and IMO, it should. We have a lot to celebrate as Auburn FANS.
