CFB Foreign Exchange Program

I pose a hypothetical scenario, where one team from the SEC trades schedules with one team from another conference for the entire season. Very similar to what a foreign exchange student would do studying abroad. I wonder how a B1G team would fair dealing with an SEC West schedule and letting an SEC West school loose on the B1G would turn out. What would you think to Auburn playing in the B1G for a season and seeing a Penn St. come down south. Do you think we would be able to find a team willing to trade?

No. The travel costs would be horrendous -- not to mention the B1G school fans would hate to have to play all their "home" games at your hypothetical SEC locale. Wouldn't work. ... ... :)

Sometime in the near future (I predict) there will be 5 major conferences. 5 Conference champions and 5 at large bids will be given to determine a 10 team playoff with the first match up the week before Christmas and the next the week after.

I'll give you a wish it WERE possible, simply because it's refreshing, out-of-the-box, and interesting to think about. Plus, I can't imagine how many invaluable insights could be gained...can you tell I'm a teacher with ESL children who is also a world traveler...lol?!

Absolutely positivity no and no!

I hear that there are some excellent defensive linemen in Japan that weigh 600 plus pounds and can run a 4.45 forty.(inches that is)

I have always wondered why someone has not tried to turn a 600 lb sumo into a nose guard.

That would be a huge NG no doubt. I can see CRG teaching a sumo guy how to move the center into the QB each snap of the ball resulting in one turnover after another. You would have to triple team him to keep him from disrupting every single play. Maybe CKS should look into this. We could exchange a couple of our pocket passer QBs for one of them!

I thought you were recruiting a kicker when i saw title.

funny enough I used to coach a German exchange student 6'3" 185, after 8 weeks he could kick a 60 yard field goal. Within 3 months he was consistent from 55 off the ground, problem was he was a junior so he had to move back to Germany for his senior year. He didn't get enough exposure in Colorado when he was there to get him to stay.

my high school had an Italian a few years ago. He was looking good early and continued to get worse as the season went on. The first football game he ever watched he kicked it off.

I was stationed in Japan in the mid-80s. Saw sumo for the first time. There was one guy that was winning all the tournaments and he was unlike any other wrestler, about 6' and only about 280 lbs. But he was super quick & strong as an ox -- the only real sumo to have definition in his physique. His name was Chiyonofuji, and I always wondered if he could have made it at DT.

I agree, except I expect 3 at large bids plus the 5 champs for a total of 8. You don't get from 10 to 2 without some team having a bye which would be unfair in subjective poll. 8 is the magic number IMO.

A rugby player from Britain, NZ, Australia, or South Africa would be the easiest to use in gridiron football. Converting over while in HS or college would be the easiest.

based on their sport, I would bet that sumo converts would have an awesome first step. i'm thinking OL, though. 5 of them. Arkansas would look like a pop warner team. lol

Harbaugh would be your best bet.

Poor Mizou in the East suffers very similar costs now.

I lean in your direction but what if the top two teams got a first round bye? Once the playoff starts the poll is no longer needed.

Think of West Virginia. They're in the big 12. I shudder to think of the travel expenses for all their other sports teams.

On paper it sounds like a good idea, but not in the real world. I don't know of any Big 10 team willing to trade schedules for a year with Auburn or any other SEC team.
