A month and a week...and batter up.

I'm looking forward to this season under Coach Thompson. No expectations....just win!!!!

I'm really excited to see baseball and softball get cranked up too. I'm anxious to see what Butch Thompson is going to do with what he has currently. Also, looking forward to seeing them play. They are playing in a tournament here in Pensacola on the first weekend in March. Tournament includes Troy, Southern Miss. and Michigan State. Everybody plays each other, so there are two games each day on friday, saturday and sunday.

We've got a lot of pieces back from last year's ball club that barely scored any runs, but still was able to win an NCAA tourney game, as well as prove they belonged there against C of C by playing them tight twice. I'm excited to see a really great pitching/defensive team, with maybe a little more aim on hitting gappers instead of

Bloop singles

I'll say this: I'm glad he's not here any longer because he was obviously not quite up to standards personality wise, but CSG did have us pointing in an upward direction. I hope that on the rise mentality keeps up with these players and these guys make a splash this year! Anybody up for a trip to Omaha under first year CBT???

Just looking at the roster of incoming players it looked like Sunny recruited some bangers before he departed.

As noted, would be nice to see some extra base hits this year .....and scoring rallies that did not take a walk, a sacrifice bunt and two singles to score a run.

What fields are they playing at?

They're going to be at the Blue Wahoos stadium.

Side note: I've only lived in this area since moving after graduation 18 months ago, but that ballpark is impressive. Wahoos games are a lot more fun to attend than the Huntsville Stars games I grew up attending.

That's a nice looking stadium

I feel the same about Barons games since moving from Huntsville to Birmingham. Having a stadium that's not the baseball version of Legion Field helps a ton.

Wow it's a small world! I just moved to the Pensacola area from Madison. I'm so excited about going to that stadium by the water to watch a ball game. It's a beautiful facility. Joe Davis Stadium was really a third rate place with almost no community support. I'm not surprised that the team left. I took my kids to many baseball games in Huntsville and it wasn't like my childhood going to watch the Birmingham Barons play at Rickwood.

I'll be there to watch AU play. It should be a lot of fun.

Probably the biggest reason they moved.
