Jeremy, you showed us what an Auburn man's all about," Jacobs said. "Every Saturday, regardless of what your situation was, you were the first one out of that tunnel. To me, as an Auburn man, that means more to me and these people in this room than anything you do. We appreciate you and we appreciate the way you represent Auburn University and your family."

this is what i think pretty much when i think of jj. i would bet you a million dollars no one wanted to win worse than him. everyone has posted the bad sides and failures of jj. i just saw this and wanted to give a different point of view. god bless you and yours young man and war eagle!

I agree 100%! Things didn't turn out or the plays didn't go as JJ, the coaching staff and the fans had imagined or predicted. I understand the position he attained as a SEC athlete.....that you are required to be tough and have your big boy pants on at all times specially as a starting QB. But the character that young man showed every week that team took the field was indeed remarkable IMO!

I haven't seen anyone here going out of their way to be critical of him. His troubles were obvious and what I noticed was posters hoping he'd turn the corner and head to greatness.

I'm confused by this post, did he quit or something?

Nope...comments made during an event to recognize some AU athletes.

Much as I hate to post this....you can check here:

http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2016/01/after_rocky_season_auburns_jer.html#incart_river_index

And PS to Mikey....you don't recall fans booing him when he went into some games?

I was thinking more of what was posted here. I have learned to turn the boo-nerds off at games. White was booed too, and probably if we'd tried another QB he would have been booed as well. AU64, the Auburn fan in the stands is not the same person that was in the stands when you and I were students. The generation of instant gratification and entitlement doesn't mind booing a guy on Saturday and sitting next to him in Biology Lab on Monday. I couldn't do it.

I've been critical of some players here on this website, but I don't think ever hateful and hateful is what booing is.

um jj was thrown under the bus by lots of folks. he was called a coward on this board i believe this week. you think he does not hear all that crap? maybe he failed at what we hoped he would be but hey......what if the coaches failed him? saw what you want as much crap has been thrown his way he has been nothing but pure class. he has not said one bad word about auburn or his situation except to keep fighting which to me is the auburn way.

last i heard participation in this thread is voluntary. anyway i have often wondered how some atheletes are treated effects the way some recruits might look at our school as a whole. maybe it is nothing. but this is a thread trying to CELEBRATE the class of a guy struggling and not intended to flame you mr cole.peace.

We've got several "Auburn Men" that have conducted themselves in similar fashion when they've found themselves in the same situation......J. Wallace, K. Frazer, K.Burns come to mind. SEC football is tough as nails, some kids have it and some don't. I appreciate these guys keeping their composure in adversity and doing their job on the sideline to help support the team on the field.

LOL... I was at a game one time and this IDIOT sitting in front of me kept trashing Jake Holland. During one defensive series (bad one), the same IDIOT began to yell, "Get that useless waste of a scholarship off the field". I tapped this IDIOT on the shoulder and informed him Holland was not in on that series. The Idiot fan's response was, "Well thank god the coaches came to their senses". :-\

I draw the line at questioning a kid's heart, courage, toughness, etc. And that has definitely happened quite a bit on this board. It hasn't been the overarching sentiment, and much if not most of those comments have been met with resistance, but it's there.

I'm glad that the AD publicly acknowledged the way Jeremy has carried himself. He deserves it. And, as Mikey said, I think many of us are maintaining hope for him (if separately from our expectations).

I had a similar experience but it was in regards to Neiko Thorpe

My problem with JJ was having 6 seconds to throw, throwing to a 5-7 yard crossing route and throwing it behind or too far above the WR's head, with no pass rush. Other than that, great parents, great kid. Has nothing to do with being a good QB. Maybe he can find something. Not willing to see Gus lose his job over it. People just like to debate their beliefs in sports. Even if they know they're a little bias... (Clears throat) cole lol

i admit Jake was not a great player. I have been critical here but he was playing and giving his best effort. If we had a better option we wouldn't have seen jake on the field. I have never been more embarrassed than when he was booed pregame introductions. We have our share of dipsticks.

Not in my blood to always believe everyone has a stubborn agenda against what I think.

Therefore I wont stop my day to play the constantly speaking con to fellow AU fans
