Bowers suspended for Oklahoma St. Game

Just keeps getting worse.....BP called him out publicly after the last game ....which in most cases will stimulate a player to get with the program....but seems the more BP pushes....the less CB responds. Hate it for him....and for the team.

So...the mystery is over....no worrying about how he will play and whether BP will have to sit him for a while or anything like that....and the guys playing know the game is on them. Better to know now than find out at half time.

So our shorthanded team is even more shorthanded. Perhaps there was more to him being benched in the last game than just not setting a screen that Pearl was screaming for him to do. Important to stay our of foul trouble, Harris and Spencer in particular.

Did we ever get an official on what the "rules violation" was that got him suspended last year? Wondering if this is strike two or if that was cleared up. Never saw an official, just that was ok to play.

Universities rarely if ever release that information.

Pre-game interview with BP....sounds like some kind of "insubordination" more or less...just not responding to instruction....said CB had apologized to the team but he would have to sit out at least one more game....

Believe he sold tickets to his family right?

Like I said, if you're really out there not listening to your coach or not interested you'll sit down. No way the players are just out there doing whatever they want and BP reaction would just be oh well....

One of the problems with this team is no leadership, no take charge player, on or off the court.

That may or may not be true, this incident can't be used to determine that though. Just because you can't get one knuckle head to stay out of trouble, or not talk back doesn't mean there's not any leadership. And who on the roster is more intimidating than cim anyway? The greatest asset you have to control D1 players is their playing time. They usually have aspirations to play professionally and they know they have to play for that to happen. And sometimes even that's not enough.

Leadership is always complicated....and IMO it is hard to have "leadership" with mostly freshmen or transfers. As a senior and a returning starter CB is in the best position to provide the leadership....I can't think of anyone else who might even be a close second at the moment...

The last two seasons Bruce has frequently been in arguments with him during the game. That's unacceptable. He is a very good talent, but something between the ears keeps holding him back.

i see him as very physically intimidating(possibly). No idea if he has a leader type personality. i just don't think his attitude is as bad as some make it out, even though it got him suspended. he just don't stand out as a bad guy to me but Duke didn't either. I wish he would make it his goal to get every rebound that comes off the glass and become an inside player first. I guess it is hard with his quickness and ball handling skills to stay inside but i rarely see his perimeter play result in points. basketball strategy is not really my thang tho.

If it was total insubordination BP would drop him from the team and rightly so. The kid plays hard and wants to win this can be a good trait but can also lead to people being hardheaded. The fact that BP set him down for a game bothers me but hopefully it will make him realize you can only have one head coach and he will become better for sitting out this game. Some people have bagged on this kid since he arrived on campus. Before you judge him walk a mile in his shoes.

Yep...I guess if I had been pampered and pandered to for the past five years and had coaches all over the place telling me how great I am...and can be, I guess I might start believing it and thus find it not necessary to listen to my coach.
