I knew they were trying to get out...maybe I just missed the final decision? If this is old news, please ignore. Who are they going to get to replace them?

I have heard this on John and Barry for a week or so. If USM drops out, do we pick up Troy over a 1-AA school?

After this year it should be a athletic department policy that we never, ever play a 1-aa school again. It never has been a good idea and it never will be...First off it is not a great game for the season ticket holders...it kinda sucks to pay that much money and have half the games be throw-ins...

2nd it just invites criticism of the conference and the school....when there are dozens of bowling greens and new mexico states and north texas's and wyomings out there...there are plenty of other options for easy games that don't kill the strength of schedule ratings.

La Tech went 5-6

The lost to Bosie State and us

They beat a ranked Fresno State

exactly...la tech works just fine as a non-conference team...5-6 is doesn't hurt you and ebating that ranked fresno state team was strong...if we had only played a la tech type team instead of citadel we would have had a sos that was better than oklahoma in some more of the ratings systems...sagarin and some of these others just penailze way too much for playing a crappier 1-aa team...it doesn't make sense...but that is how it works...and if you play la tech type teams it simply improves your computer rankings..and those ap pollers and coaches and othe media folks do look at computer rankings that has a big effect on the other overall rankings.

Bring on the Sooners

Oklahoma 2005 Schedule

Won't happen, but it would be nice to hear the reception Mr. Stoops would get in Jordan Hare.

Good idea...heck they played Bamar a home and home...why not us? :big:

i know we are playing ga tech this year but to fill the void, if so miss pulls out, another acc opponent would be a terrific matchup especially if we do 1 home and 1 away type deal. it would benefit both schools for fan draw since the two conferences cover the same area.

doesn't the acc (minus g-tech) have an uspoken ban against playing us? i know clemson, v-tech, and fsu were pretty lit after we dropped them.

FSU dropped out of playing us when they joined the ACC, we dropped them when CTT was hired. I thought that the Clemson series was a mutual drop by both schools.

SM has officially backed out of the Auburn game.

I just don't really understand why they got  out?

That's too bad. Living in MS I was really looking forward to beating 3 teams from the Magnolia State. Jeff Bower and Co. just got tired of being a punching bag, long-term plans for S Miss are for them to have more games at home and not on the road.

nicely done...no bites so far. Did you notice those not so loveable losers ripping the fact that we played Louisiana Tech, like that is some scrub, I-AA team. They beat a ranked fresno state team who beat a ACC team in a bowl game.

:au:
