What are the odds that he is an extremely hot commodity around the league? Maybe he should play next year an the franchise player and prove once again that he should be paid ong term. It doesn't sound great, but I'm not sure he'll get a better offer elsewhere?

Has anyone heard any buzz about other teams chomping at the bit to get him?

Why should he have to prove anything more than he already has? He gained 957 yards two years ago when Corey Dillon got injured. This year, he set a franchise record with 1454 yds. And he only had 4 fumbles all year.

Brown is being an idiot.

I am a big fan of guys who try to do the right thing and are loyal to their team and such as that. I thought Corey Dillon was a punk for the way he basically demanded to be traded. However, after reading an article, either in ESPN the Magazine or SI, the situation in Cincy is horrible. I think they finally have a coach that could get things turned around, but they make things hard on themselves by bungling front office moves. Look at Dillon in NE. He is a team player who is part of a great team.

Best of luck to Rudi. I hope he ends up somewhere he is appreciated for his attitude. Takeo escaped and I hope the same comes true for Rudi and Willie Anderson.

He has proved that he can be a top teir running back in the NFL. You now have to look towards the future. What would happen if Rudi signes a year contract and then has a serious injury....he would be screwed and it could cost him big bucks.

Cincinatti's strategy for re-signing anyone but franchise players is as follows:

1. Let the contract run out.

2. Let the guy look elsewhere.

3. Let the guy get an offer from another franchise.

4. Match or slightly beat the offer.

Basically, they (more often than not) will dangle a player and then snatch them up. It saves them the trouble of negotiating with, what they would consider, marginal players. Hopefully, I can get to watch Rudi a bit more. The Bengals have been my franchise this year since moving into Kentucky.
