Evan Mathis is a classy guy (from personal experience) - I never got him as the type to throw a cheap shot at a mascot. I sure hope that's not true.

Guys, I know I do a lot of defending bama players...but this one is probably not as bad as it seems. Evan Mathis is a super classy guy. I've known him for a while. His mean streak exists only when he lines up to play ball. He also has a LOOOOT of friends who attend and even play football for AU.

-- MASCOT CONVENTION: Almost every mascot in the state was represented Saturday at the Senior Bowl. There was the badger from Spring Hill College, rams from the University of Mobile, jaguars from South Alabama, an elephant from Alabama and a tiger from Auburn.

Aubie and Alabama's Big Al were on hand to greet players as they ran onto the field. Alabama offensive lineman Evan Mathis delivered a forearm shiver to Aubie's head as he jogged by.

I guess since he couldn't beat the #1 football team in the country, he thought he could take out the #1 Mascot in the country.

well, the truth of the matter was not reported due to the newspaper bias toward the bammerboobs.....what happened after the game is the big news story.....when the players left the field after the game,aubie grabbed jeerry mathers,mathis,whatever,and just kicked his bammer ass.....the final embarassment for the bammerboob nation is this: aubie is a girl and she whupped one of their o-linemen.....no wonder they got so many qb's hurt

Yea Playing or not..............mathis Better be glad that Marcus McNeil 6'9" 356lbs and King Dunlap 6'10" 335lbs didn't see him do that.........I'd hate to see what they could do when they're Just Playing......Kinda like Bobo and Dodo in the Movie Staring Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, and Demi Moore, "Nothing But Trouble"......it'd be like what me and my brother use to do to one of my best friend's little Barbie Dolls......All that would be left would be a Torso...........Hell, he better be glad Josh Thompson didn't see 'em do it......JT's one Stout Sum Beach........War "BY GOD" Eagle

I could see the humor if this was done in a joking, playful manner. But still, a OL throwing a forearm to the head of a mascot, even in jest, doesn't come off as 'classy' , by anyone's definition. A playful kick to the tail or something to that effect would be one thing, but that isn't how the story reads.

I wish there were more accounts of what really happened.
