AU FOOTBALL GAMEDAY COMMITTEE TO HOST FOUR FAN FORUMS IN FEBRUARY

AUBURN – Auburn University's football Gameday Committee will hold a series of four fan forums at locations in Alabama and Georgia in the month of February.

The forums are designed to allow those who regularly attend Auburn's home football games to provide suggestions on gameday planning for the 2005 season and beyond, said John Hachtel, AU’s assistant vice president for Communications and Marketing and chairman of the university’s Gameday Committee.

“We want to make the football gameday experience as enjoyable as possible for those who invest their time and money in supporting Auburn football,” said Hachtel. “At the same time, we have to be mindful of safety concerns and the best interests of the university and the campus. These forums will allow us to go to the fans and discuss with them ways that we can accomplish all of these goals. We invite all Auburn football fans to attend and participate.”

The first forum is set for 6:30 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Cahaba Rooms 1 and 2 of the Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park Hotel, located at 8 Perimeter Park South in Birmingham. The remaining forums are set for:

* Auburn: Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 5:30 p.m. (CST) in the Seminar Room of the Auburn Hotel & Dixon Conference Center on South College Street in Auburn. All participants at the Auburn forum will receive a free ticket to that evening’s Vanderbilt v. Auburn men’s basketball game.

* Columbus, Ga.: Thursday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. (CST) in the Empire Mills Room of the Wyndham Columbus Hotel at 800 Front Ave.; and

* Montgomery: Monday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. (CST) in the Tallapoosa Room of the Hilton Garden Inn Montgomery East at 1600 Interstate Park Drive.

All start times are Central Standard Time.

Auburn University is a pre-eminent land-grant and comprehensive research institution with nearly 23,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff. Ranked among the top 50 public universities nationally, Auburn is Alabama’s largest educational institution, offering more than 230 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs.

It's tough to get people to drive 45 min there and 45 min back on a weeknight for anything other than a Thursday night football game. And Mobile is more of a bammer town.

Wouldn't it be more prudent to have the Montgomery people go to the AU one and host an extra one in Mobile?

Just a thought...

A thinking bama fan? That's an oxymoron :poke:

Besides, bama fans have no input to this process :D

bama needs to have something like this to make their Iron Bowl experience more enjoyable, particulary at BD :cheer:

why is it obnoxious? a ton of people(including me) get out there anywhere from 8 to 10 am on friday and just sit there till 4 when they let us park and tape it off. the majority of people are there on friday so i don't see a big problem. i wish they would get rid of most of those damn bollards and let people park pretty much anywhere like it was before.

I wish they would have had one on a weekend so that out of town persons could have attended. Then again they are inconsiderate during gameday so why should they be considerate any other time.

Having to wait out there all day is hard work. If anything should go it should be that the RVs should not be able to even enter city limits untill after 6PM. What does it hurt for them to wait. They all have parking spots. It is horrible on gameday trying leave campus if you have a late class. To many RVs in the way. Plus they take up parking places by the Coliseum leaving some people out of a parking place.
